decent room, very helpful staff.
There was only one member of staff working when i stayed ( who was great by the way) As a result, no food available and had to go back in to town to find some. The receptionist also doubled up as the bar man and fixer of TV issues :) Breakfast was extra so i didn't partake. Room good but bathroom was a bit dated

No heating
I stayed at this hotel 27 November for one night. The heating in the bedrooms was not working so we were supplied with a small electric fan. This was not adequate so we asked for another. Apparently none of the rooms had heating working. The bathroom was very large with a small towel rail that did not gesture the room adequately. Only two pillows in total in the double room had to ask for extra. Phone is the room unconnected and did not work. No information in the room about facilities etc I was going to ask for a part refund on check out but no one at desk with a sign to say no one available

Disappointing Cheltenham Hotel
There's lots to tell about....that we're unhappy about. When we checked in, we noticed on the booking form stating a Standard room, although we specifically booked an Executive room on the hotels.com site. We were told there's no such rooms left on the night, and was only offered a room change for the following two nights remaining stay. When we changed to a larger room the following night, the shower situation was TOTALLY unacceptable. There was inadequate cold water pressure - so either the shower was way too hot, or if we tried to balance the water temperature - the shower became a trickle. Finally, the a/c wasn't working - so we didn't get proper temp regulation in the room. And the common corridors smelt unclean and smoky!! It CERTAINLY didn't feel like a £144 room for the final Friday night!! esp with no proper shower to finish the 3 night stay with. Very disappointed.,,,with this hotel. Would NOT stay there again. In fact, would wonder if Hotels.com would take up our complaint.

Good hotel
For the price a very comfortable hotel, staff friendly, bed super comfortable and large. One suggestion improve the decor of the bar area, it felt like a pre-interview waiting room. Overall a very nice hotel. We stayed 3 nights and will return if we find ourselves in that area.

Always stay here now - value for money
Always have a good stay. Massive, comfy beds, and clean rooms. Bar open but restaurant not at the moment although there is a big asda round the corner and deliveroo delivers pretty much anything you want. Shower is excellent and also has tea making facilities

Could be a great hotel but ….
This hotel has the foundations to be excellent, the rooms are very good, beds are comfortable etc but the service lets it down. On arrival I was given a room that was still occupied, luckily the occupants were out, breakfast was either a cooked breakfast to order or coco pops not much else on offer, and then they tried to charge me at the table even though I’d already paid. Still no food offering either which is disappointing.

Terrible experience. Noisy with water from other rooms, and others complaining about the noise. No hot water. No sink plug. Horrible pillows etc etc

Ok for the price. Rooms nice and clean, but bar was not manned so a bit slow getting a drink, and restaurant not available. Taxi to nearest restaurant is around £10.00 and nothing in walking distance. Could be soo much better.

Lovely Staff On Desk, Even when Late Allowed us to still check in. However. The first card we were given did not work. After requesting another card, it worked perfectly fine. When We got into Bed we were horrified for it to be covered in stains. The staff need a good hotel!

I checked in which was a good experience,When I got to my room there was a large window which was fully opened and missing a handle,I was unable to close it,tried ringing reception numerous times without answer,went down to find nobody there. Heavy wind and rain blowing into my room all through the night as well as a busy road opposite my window.no sleep😢 Spoke to reception in the morning asked for the manager,days 2 and still no reply.

Great staff member and close to town
Perfect for an overnight no-frills stay. The concierge/manager/bar-person/kitchen help was brilliant. It was the same guy doing all the jobs and he was pleasant, helpful and literally everywhere.

The room was fine and the bed was very comfy. The decor is very outdated by cleanliness is generally ok. The breakfast was very poor. no clean cups to get coffee, had to ask to have the coffee facilities (i.e. instant coffee sachets...) to be put out. Even the beans were makeshift. Seems they didn't have a enough so they decided to add kidney beans in there. It is fine for an overnight stay, however, we paid upwards of £200 and this property is not worth this amount.

This isn’t a budget hotel. There was no hot water for a shower in the morning. When I spoke to the front desk about it I got no apology, on ‘yes someone else said that’. So I emailed and stil got no apology and a similar response. Certainly wouldn’t stay there again and would not recommend it. Very poor.

The Hotel that wasn`t
I had previously stopped here prior to covid lockdown and the hotel was ok ,now is a different story to which i wont be staying again .The two gentlemen on the front desk need to buy an iron (no uniform worn by by either). The key card was a very old card with the name virtually rubbed off (no card holder)then my room number written with a white board marker so by the time i got to my room i had rubbed part of the number off .On entry to the room i was greeted with a line of stains on the carpet . The bedroom was a double with a queen size bed .The mattress was very old and possibly never been change for years ,turned as either side of the middle had been used numerous times with the middle never been used ( very lumpy mattress). On asking if food was being served i was told they now don`t do food but if i wanted bottle beer they would serve me. The breakfast would be continental now ,Which after a long day wasn`t what i wanted to hear. On the plus side I did manage to find a pub (The house in the Tree) 2 miles away that did beautiful food and draft lager welcomed me in with open arms . I would highly recommend The House in the Tree but not this hotel

Arrived and manager could not find booking,but gave us a room and said he would sirt it later.Room was nice and large with king size bed which was very comfortable. Everything we needed was in the room.Had a good night sleep went down for breakfast,had to find things for ourselves, it was quite dark as no lights on.A member of staff eventually turned up,took our order.Took about 20mins for my breakfast to come,with some of it cold,wifes meal came out just as i was finishing mine.Staff were friendly and overall it was a good stay.Will stay there again.

Probably one of the worst hotel stays we’ve had
When we arrived there seemed to be some issue with our reservation which required 4 members of staff to crowd behind the reception and mutter to each other whilst completely ignoring us… There was also a sign that said the air con was broken (on the hottest week of the year) and sorry for the inconvenience. Finally got to our room after what seemed like lots of uncertainty and there was no fan in the room in lieu of air con, only one towel between us and no bottles of water. The phone in the room didn’t seem to have an easy option to call reception and at 10 o’clock at night we thought we’d just deal with it. We were then left with a choice of opening the window and having significant traffic noice or closing it and boiling to death! Just as we started to get used to the traffic noise (it really was too hot to sleep with the window closed) someone started playing really really loud Indian Dance music at 1am… it sounded almost like it was coming from reception. When that finally stopped, someone started banging around and doing some DIY or something next door! (The walls are so thin you can hear someone snoring from 2 rooms away). I don’t think I actually managed to sleep until about 3:30am which almost ruined the wedding that we’d stayed overnight to attend at another venue the next day. We wished to talk to someone when we checked out but no one was on reception nor anywhere else to be seen. Definitely don’t stay if you want a good nights sleep.

have returned home today (25/7/21) after spending last night in room 202 at your hotel, at a cost of £65. This is the second time we have stayed in your hotel and to say we are disappointed is an understatement. Here is where it went wrong… 1, we had to search for a member of staff to check in despite calling both numbers displayed on reception and getting no answer. 2, on being shown our room we were alarmed to hear a kitchen extraction unit just outside the window .. after discussing our concerns about the noise with reception, we were assured it would be turned off at 9.30pm and we would not hear it again… sadly it woke us at 6.30am on Sunday morning. 3, the towels, we had a set for one.. a bath mat, a hand towel and a bath towel (there were two staying in the room) we discovered this after one of us had showered this morning and ended up sharing as we were not hopeful we would find anyone to help us. 4, on returning to the hotel after our evening out our key was not working, once again despite calling both numbers displayed on reception we had to go searching for a member of staff to re program the key. 5. We looked in the room for an extra pillow and only found an empty pillow bag… we really couldn’t be bothered to come and search for someone to provide us with one after previous searches for a member of staff.. We would have discussed all of these points when we left the hotel this morning but sadly, you guessed it, we couldn’t find anyone to talk to….

I should have asked for my money back..
Well what can I say, poor it’s putting it mildly. On a day when the temperatures were 30degC - the air con was out of action. The shower was either scalding or freezing, had to resort to a bath. Fridge didn’t work and whole place was run down and outdated. Restaurant closed. If it wasn’t for the fact that it was getting late and driven for 3 hours I’d have changed hotels. Live n learn…

Travelled down from Scotland to spend the weekend with my boys, found this hotel online it’s on the outskirts of Cheltenham but it’s great value, lovely rooms, comfortable bed and excellent staff, initially my shower wouldn’t run cool but the lady on reception changed my room straight away I will be back

Great Stay at Clarion
The staff were friendly and the service was great. Some parts of the hotel are a bit dated but the rooms are large and the bed was really comfortable.
