Very charming--"old world"--but with modern touches. Wonderful linens and we actually had a "face cloth" a couple of days! The restaurant was wonderful, especially the continental breakfast which was expensive but very nice.

"Lovely hotel"
Great hotel facing a lovely park. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. I loved the wool draperies and upholstery in the rooms. Floor to ceiling marble baths are stunning. Ours was dark brown and a bit dark but the window wall in the room helped. They should put some high watt bulbs in the bath. Dining room food pricey and just so so. Wait staff all seemed confused somehow. Included breakfast was very high quality however. Do your self a favor and spend some time in their second floor bar. A beautifully appointed room.

"Overnight stay"
We arrived on a Sunday afternoon , quite early and our room was not ready but we were able to book in , so this was not a problem as we were leaving right away to visit the city centre . We were not in the main building of the castle but one of the lodges The room was large , clean and very nice The bathroom was of a good standard and again very large The building has free WiFi The negatives we found were It can be a bit noisy as the lodge is located at the rear of the building beside the car park ..we were woke up with the noise of a delivery vehicle . You have to walk to the main building for breakfast but umbrellas are provided The breakfast is good but if you have the Full Scottish it was a bit minimalistic, one of everything ..my wife asked for an extra slice of bacon as she did not want a potato scone but she still only received one rasher ..no big issue but as we were away to leave on a 2 hour drive we were hoping to have something a bit more substantial
