It's extraordinary - a historic place to yourself, full of detail and ambience. Be clear, it is not a hotel, more a serviced apartment. No breakfast is a bit inconvenient, but there are many places nearby. Don't expect the Ryokan dining experience that you will get elsewhere. However nothing detracts from the memories this beautiful home will leave.
This hotel is at the heart of the historic streets of Kyoto. It is a few minutes walk to the Geisha district, Higashiyama District, and Kiyomizudera Temple. It is also close to one of the subway stations and numerous buses to get around the city. The hotel does not look too big from the outside, but the rooms are definitely big and comfortable.
Although staff are not well spoken in English, they try their best to communicate with us. The hotel is well-decorated in traditional Japanese style. Moreover, it's close to the Gion, shopping and eating area in Kyoto. Recommended the public bath room (separate male and female) very clean, and comfort after long day journey in the city.

Our hotel is located amidst some of Kyotos most popular sights- including Yasaka Shrine- Kodai-ji Temple- Kennin-ji Temple …More
very convenient to everything. Quiet and clean, great price.
Hotel has laundry service but its expensive desk will give you map to coin laundry not too far away but really really hard to find, follow map don't take a cab they won't find it it's on side street then turn down long alleyway...
A modern japanese ryokan. Nice tattame rooms in an excellent location. Service was first class, attentive helpful and personable. I loved the way they helped us with instructions on wearing yukata, hardly rocket science but sweet.
Ordered taxis arrived on time. The public bath was also good and relaxing. Also nice to have our own minitubs as well.
We have stayed in old ryokan, ultra modern hotels and business hotels in Kyoto and this one suited us the best.
I was here in the middle of the week in January and had a great stay for a quite reasonable price. Very spacious room/suite, good climate control, absolutely no competition for space in the bath house, etc. I'm sure the crowding situation can be quite different during busy weekends and festivals, however. The ryokan is ideally located for sightseeing, shopping and nights out in eastern Kyoto.
