“will not use again, will not recommend”

in this day and age, guests are used to using tv remote controls in bed. finally figured out that it only works if you are 2 feet away from the tv. complained twice, only to get another remote that likewise only worked within 2 feet. complained again, this time talked to the maintanance man who said it's a common problem with ALL the televisions in the hotel. suggested i move the bed closer. the irritation of this ruined my stay at what would have otherwise been a great place. one would think they would give me one night free, or some other comp. but nothing. won't go back. won't recommend it to others.

“Mixed Bag”

DW Resort is nice place to get away for the weekend. They have a pool and hot tubs of various temps. But, the place is in a bit of disrepair. None of the hot tubs had working jets. And more recent construction show signs of major defects. The concrete sidewalks and pathways are in very poor condition. The rooms are nice though, and the local views are great. I didn't catch that Expedia online rate did not include use of the spa - so we had to pay extra. We could have had the same rate and spa use by booking direct or just showing up.

Area recommendations
There's really no other local activities except for the historical marker for the 1st settlement in Nevada at Genoa (Mormon Station.) There are some hiking trails and wetlands where you can see ducks, geese, and misc. songbirds.

“Very disappointed”

Check in went as expected. The room was small but nice. The views were great because of the location. Went to check email and the internet was incredibly slow. I tried to watch TV, but the 15" screen made it hard to watch and gave me a headache. In the morning went to take a shower and no hot water. It was 40 degrees outside and I couldn't get water hotter that 45! Talked to the front desk and they said that maintenance would come and fix it. Got back to hotel at night and internet was still bad. Showered the next morning in cold water again, I guess maintenance couldn't fix my shower. Normal check-out time is 10am (too early anyway) so I asked for a late check-out. The woman at the desk said that I could stay until 11am. Honestly, 1 hour extra? Tried to check email again but the internet didn't work at all. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel stays I have had. I will not be going back.

Area recommendations
I would recommend the hotel in Genoa or the Holiday Inn Express in Minden. They are very close to where I stayed and probably don't have the problems that I had.

“not impressed at all”

We checked tried to check in at 2:30pm but room was not available. The desk clerk said she would call us on our cell phone when it was ready. No call. Our room was plesant, clean and good size but didn't have bath soap or shampoo as one would expect. I went down to the hotel check in desk and received a RUDE "we don't have any" response. I would have checked out of the hotel but I had pre-paid and couldn't get a refund. The property has weeds in planter areas and the trash can at the front door wasn't emptied during our 2 night stay. I think the place is in Bankruptcy because it just isn't sharp and well maintained.. Don from Apple Valley, CA

“Needs some upgrades and maintenance”

I have stayed here many times and it is a timeshare that you can stay at like a hotel. The one bedroom suites are laid out very nice. The issue is that they need to spend some money on these units and make upgrades and mainly the maintenance. The last time they had not cleaned off the patio from the previous occupants and cigarette butts were on the patio and there were beer bottles still on the patio. You can see that at one time this was a very nice place. Its OK and I stay while on business and I like having the extra room and being able to fix my own meal. As for a vacation place to stay I would want something that was in better condition. Overall its OK and I would give it a 3 .

“Will never go back!!!”

did not like this hotel and the location of it was not fun!! This place is in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do and nowhere to go unless you wanna drive up the hill for 25 mins to S. lake tahoe. When we first got to our room we found a dirty diaper which was pretty gross, the sofa sleeper was so uncomfortable we had to lay 3-4 blankets down just so we could bare to sleep on it. At night the people upstairs were practicing for the olympics or something because the noise was so loud it was unbearable and we tried to call the front desk for like 2 hours and the phone just rang and no one ever answered..oh wait someone did answer it was a guest trying to check and no one was at the front desk and she couldnt find anybody down there.. this place is a ghost town!! and then to make matters worse some man(i guess he was lost) tried to barge into our room and kept banging on the door.. since this place is kinda creepy there was no way we were going to answer the door.. so that night we all went to sleep around 3am.not fun when you are trying to get some R&R..so that morning we called the front desk and complained they said that security should have answered and they were going to make sure that there was no noise tonight.so the second night of course the noise was back so i had to get on the counter and bang on the ceiling until they stopped.the dinner house is not good.dont try it!! the hot springs are ok, they are fixing a couple of them so the overall appearance isnt great!!

“This hotel/resort stay was the bargain of the century”

We had a suite with separate lounge, dining area, kitchen, washer, dryer, etc. It was fabulous. The food on offer is also an amazing deal. Two steak dinners for $20-that's amazing. This is a fabulous hotel/spa that is about 15-20 minutes from Heavenly skiing (Nevada side). Hot springs and hot tubs are very popular here.

“Great place to stay near Heavenly Valley and Kirkwood!”

The condos are spacious and well appointed. We really enjoyed the use of Walley's Hot Springs. Also, it is close to both Heavenly Valley and Kirkwood. So access to the slopes was good.

“No maid service”

Is definitely a nice place to stay, BUT there are few quirks that the traveler should be aware of....unlike most motels/hotels they do NOT come in every morning to make your bed; give you clean towels; clean the bathroom; and with this room having a kitchen with a coffeemaker, they do not give you a new supply of coffee/sugar/cream. For a nominal fee, they will come in and do maid service for you. But if you call the office, they will supply you with coffee/towels and such, but it was not an automatic process. Overall, it was a nice place to stay

Traveller's tip
I stayed there for the Candy Dance Festival in Genoa

“Inexpensive”

On the pro side, the views were beautiful, the room was inexpensive, spacious, clean and well decorated. On the con side check in isn't until 4pm and check out is at 10am. The maid never came to refresh our room with towels etc. The pool needed maintenance and the only restaurant is closed on Sundays.
