Geneva Trip
Great location but the rooms are tired
excellent
classic but user friendly and perfect location
All right hotel
The hotel is OK by Geneva standards. The rooms still sport old fashioned TVs and are small-ish, at least the one I was in. The location is great. Overall it's OK but can use some renovation.
Business: Hotel prices in Geneva vary tremendously due to all the UN-related activities. Don't be surprised if you occasionally pay triple what you normally pay otherwise.

Mandatory hotel-imposed fees
The following mandatory hotel-imposed fees are charged and collected by the hotel either at check-in or check-out.

General Information
What to expect: This grand hotel was built on the site of ancient battlements in 1854 and hosted the likes of Richard Wagner. In WWII the Red Cross took it over. It closed for renovations for five years in 1980 but preserves its original façade. Guestrooms were also renovated between 2000 and 2003. On entering, guests sweep up a staircase to reception. With its high ceilings, faux gray stone pillars, and glittering chandeliers it has a monumental feel that attracts mainly business clients.
Amenity highlights: On the fourth floor of the hotel, the Amrita fitness center offers weights and a range of exercise machines and bikes, the latter equipped with TV sets. Six meeting rooms can accommodate up to 350 people on the ground and fifth floors. The Swissoffice provides two PC terminals and other office equipment. Wireless Internet access (surcharge) is available in public areas and guestrooms.
Insider tip: In summer, hotel staff open the rooftop terrace for buffet dinners (Thursday to Saturday) to take advantage of the mild weather and spectacular views north across the lake. In the colder months it is worth coming up here to see if the door to the terrace is open, as the views are just as captivating any time of year.
Property Amenities
On the fourth floor the hotel offers the compact Amrita fitness center, with exercise machines, weights, and exercise bikes with TVs mounted in front of them.
Seven meeting rooms (five on the ground floor and two on the top floor) can be used separately or combined for events catering to up to 350 people. On the mezzanine level behind near the reception area is the Swissoffice, with two PC terminals and other office equipment.
Rooms
This hotel has 111 guestrooms and 16 suites. All have a timber desk with modem connection, wireless Internet access (surcharge), and black halogen desk lamp. A Lavazza machine provides morning coffee, while the CD/DVD player offer entertainment possibilities. The predominantly burgundy colored carpet is offset by the matching striped curtains and bedclothes (the color scheme changes from room to room). All bathrooms come with makeup mirrors and hairdryers.

Dining
Le Grand Quai - All the splendor of the Belle Epoque awaits diners here whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The walls are enlivened by gentle trompe l'oeil rural scenes, heavy red and gold taffeta drapes hang voluptuously from the ceiling and all lit up by a grand chandelier. In summer tables are also set up outside on the cobbled square. Cuisine is mainly classical French.
Bar - This quiet low lit piano bar opens onto the right side of the lobby, separating it from the Le Grand Quai restaurant. Guests plunge into leather armchairs or perch on a bar stool, gently accompanied in the evening by a some melodious tinkling on the grand piano.
Le Bistropôle - Opened in May, 2004, this reaturant offers sandwiches and wines by the glass in a contemporary setting.
Recreation
Lake Geneva offers an impressive range of summer water sports options, including sailing, boating water-skiing, fishing, rowing, windsurfing, and even swimming. For those feeling less active, a variety of lake tours are also an option.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.
