“Excellent but expensive”

The hotel is extremely nice and the service was above normal. Everyone was very, very nice and accommodating. Everyone knew our name and always referred to us by name. The food was also very good. The bar had some of the best drinks we ever had. Over all it was a extremely pleasant experience; however, you do pay for all the services. The food and drinks were very expensive as was the room.

Area recommendations

Take a lake tour. The lake is beautiful and very clean and clear.

“Nice but overpriced”

Nice hotel but overpriced even at Expedia discount. Location is very good but non-lake view rooms look out on ugly back of a building. Price for Internet access ($35 a day) was ridiculous. Would not stay there again.

Area recommendations

Geneva is a beautiful city -- traffic can be an issue in center if you are driving as there are limited ways from one side of lake to the other. Public transportation is very good.

Dining

Ywo steak and fries (and only steak and fries) restaurants are very good -- Cafe de Paris just below the train station on the Rue du Mont Blanc and Relais d'Entrecote on the Rue du Rhone -- just opposite the flower clock. No reservations, often crowded, tasty food but they don't serve anything but steak and fries. The Lion d'Or just outside the city has excellent food (Michelin rated) and a great lake view -- very expensive and closed on Sat/Sun. If you go to Yvoire (scenic lakeside medieval village) -- in France on south side of the lake and perhaps 20 miles away , the restaurant of the Hotel du Port (closed Wed) is very good.
