    “Not a bad hotel but might try a different one next time.”

    Reception staff was a bit cold, unwelcoming and fake. Price of extra breakfast and car park etremely hight. Breakfast staff adorable and going that extra mile for my mother who can only drink soya milk. Executive room was really nice but housekeeping should improve the way they clean. Location was really good for us. I booked an extra night directly with the hotel and reservation staff was abrupt and unpleasant. Not a bad hotel but might try a different one next time.

    “Business Traveler”

    This is a good business option with free WiFi and breakfast. Very convenient to train and 10 minute walk to lake. Room was clean and comfortable with plenty of space for 1 or 2.

    “Outstanding Hotel”

    The hotel is exceptional. I was lucky enough to get an upgrade to a stunning room, which was quiet and comfortable. The staff were friendly on check-in. I think the only criticism of the hotel would be the price for breakfast, which was high, and the staff weren't as good or attentive.

    “Decent hotel close to all the local amenities, very helpful staff”

    I was pleasantly surprised (and definitely relieved) when we first entered the hotel lobby. Classy, friendly, clean, excellent location to bus/train station and a stones throw from the lake and nearby restaurants. Geneva itself is very well linked up in terms of public transport, and with ur free transport card from the hotel it couldn't be any easier. Staff speak both English and French. Rooms were clean and comfortable. There are Sauna and Gym facilities for those who wish to use them, although mixed gender which put me off somewhat. I did not eat at the hotel but we received a 15% discount at 3 Manotel hotels, including Hotel Royal, which enabled us to sample some of the other hotel restaurants. Overall, I was really impressed for what made a very comfortable and relaxing stay. Left luggage, free wifi and early check in availble if rooms available (as we were lucky to discover). Check out is 12 noon which makes for a nice Sunday lie in! Thank you for a lovely stay, I definitely recommend it.

    Area recommendations
    It really depends what you're looking for. I went with my mother, during the start of the Winter season, the only weekend apparently when almost all the trains were down so many of the 'city tours' were out of bounds for us. However, despite this, in our 3 day stay we managed to take a tour of the UN building, a cruise along the lake (with English and many other language commentary!), a bus/walking city tour and sample many a fine dining. The highlight for me was the city tour. Having taken several tours in various city breaks, I really enjoyed the walking part of the tour which took you through Old Geneva, it also provided fresh air instead of being stuck on a bus or boat for several hours! Top tip-dine at Windows restaurant for Afternoon Tea at a rather reasonable price for this classy restaurant, their quantities will surprise you, not to mention their culinary delights! Given the season we went, I would advise going to the Tourist Office and discussing your options, the staff there are extremely friendly and you'll get hold of (and never let go of) a local map of the city. We also enjoyed an amble down the lakeside promenade as well as the shops, having been given top tips from both the Tourist Office lady and the City Tour Guide. We didn't quite have the time (or energy) to visit the museums, mainly because the Red Cross Museum is closed for renovation. Don't get caught out on Sunday either, as things seemed to grind to a halt a wee bit! Great trip overall tho!

    “Great location, professional staff, lovely decor”

    We had a group stay at the Manotel Royal about 3 years ago and everyone was very satisfied. I returned for a stay recently and it was fab too. Would recommend it and intend to return. All the important things are right!

    “Reasonable value”

    The big advantage of this hotel is the location. Just a 5 minute walk from the train station. It is easy. Our room was typically European and small. The toilet ran all night and many of the items in the room were not in great shape. However, it was fine and we enjoyed our stay.

    “Geneva”

    Price was good, but think this was due to hotel refurb on outside. This should have been notified on web-site. In reality not major problem, as out of hotel during hours of work and had this in plenty of hotels booked via cheap deal web-sites. Reality is you get a better deal and better hotel, if the work does not interfere, but be better to notify. Otherwise all well and good, Geneva is expensive as is Switzerland, but nice place to visit and as booked Junior Suite, very nice room to stay in. Web site or hotel web site, as usual does not allow a good idea of what you get, but Junior suite has entrance hall, bathroom of it, bedroom off entrance hall and seperate room, with folding doors into bedroom, off entrance hall. You could bring child and they could sleep on the settee in the other room, has writing desk in there as well and seperate TV. On very good thing is free train ride from airport to Geneva and hotels give you card fro free public transport in Geneva for stay, inc arrival and depart day. Allows water taxi, trams, bus and train back to airport.

    “Lovely Hotel, a bit further from Station than expected”

    The rooms were beautiful, location safe though a good 10 minute walk from train station, wish breakfast was included.

    “Excellent value”

    While I only gave this hotel 4 out of 5 on everything it was mainly because of price being a relative factor. We got an excellent deal on Expedia and for what we paid and comparing to other hotels in Geneva (we have stayed at many of them) I would have scored them a 5 out of 5 on everything. However, this hotel can sometimes be twice as much as we got it for since Geneva hotel prices change daily. If you can get a room for US or CDN $300 or less take it and you will be very pleased. Breakfast was 30 swiss francs and was very good (similar breakfasts can be up to 40 swiss francs). Hotel is conveniently located. Beds are comfortable and pillows are big down type. Our room had a tub with a shower and was very nice.
