“Good for the Price”
Clean, reasonably priced (for Geneva).
“We'd stay there again and recommend to friends”
Geneva is a weird place to try and get a room. Either you're on the left bank close to train station or you're across the bay on the right bank with all the tourists. We didn't have a car and trained in from airport. The Kipling was a good location for us as we just walked 3 blocks towing our light suitcases. It's on a relatively quiet street although Fri/Sat nights were a bit noisey with bars and clubs, but they seem to be everywhere. The hotel was clean, easy to get to the lake front and travel for free on quaint ferry boats to the town center. Many restaurants in the area, most over priced and lacking in quality but Geneva is expensive compared to say Paris or London. Geneva is perfect for two nights max then get outta there!
“Nice hotel for the price, second time there, close to train station, neighborhood a little scary.”
Title says it all. Free Wifi worked well. Walking from the train station, I caught some punk attemting to lift my knapsack from my pull-luggage....be carefull around the trainstation....watch your back.
“Excellent hotel at an excellent location”
Enough said. Good value too, considering Ibis costs the same, is tragically located and, well, it's an Ibis.
“Great hotel, but it is in the red light district”
For the price, this hotel is wonderful. The staff is great, and the rooms are a bit small, but clean and comfortable. I like the proximity to the train station and all public transportation, too. The only downside is that the hotel is near the red light district. It's Geneva, so that doesn't mean much, but there can be some shady characters on the street at night. I still think the hotel is worth it, but some people may choose to avoid the hotel for this reason. The red light district is really more like the part of town with a few sex shops and lots of cheaper ethnic eateries. A local described it more as the "ethnic" district. It's not very large, and within a few blocks you are in the more respectable part of town.
“Excellent value hotel in a very handy location”
I was very happy with my stay here. The room was clean and well furnished, with a decent LCD TV. It looked to me the hotel had been modernised fairly recently. This hotel is is a very handy location, a short walk away from the train station and in the Paquis area, jam packed with relatively (for Geneva) reasonably priced eateries. Having read of doubts regarding this area from other reviews, I found the area safe, though I didn't venture out particularly late, and I didn't see much of a red light district in evidence. I would say the usual big city rules apply, i.e. be watchful and don't do silly things like leave valuable lying around. Free WiFi in the hotel is provided, which was very reliable, and thus extremely useful. The desk service was very friendly & helpful. You are given a Geneva card upon arrival, which is useful for discounts. I used it to discount a boat trip around the lake, so make sure you get the card. All in all I would highly recommend staying at the hotel, the good reviews here are well deserved from my experience. I would definately stay here again upon visiting Geneva.
“Great hotel and highly recommend it”
This is the second time I have stayed at the Kipling and my stay reaffirmed my initial judgement -- great people, good price, an excellent place to stay in Geneva.
“Geneve Kipling Hotel”
Easy walking to and from the train station and lake. Desk staff were friendly and helpful. Nice hotel but a lot of street noise at night. We use moldable ear plugs (highly recommended) so it was not a problem for us.
“Goodl Location, great hotel”
I bit expensive, but the hotel has great customer service and very good location....close to downtown and train station. Free WIFI, complimentary passes for tram and buses during stay. Very nice decore. Parking was around 40 CHF, which isn't bad considering location, compared to other hotels in area. I did not havethe paid breakfast. This was my second time staying in this hotel.
“great lil boutique hotel convenient to the airport”
I was really pleased with this hotel. Internet was free, the room was decent. They even loaned me a universal adapter for free. It's a 3 min walk to the train station which is a 8 min ride to the airport, so great location if you're just passing thru. That being said, all the shopping, restaurants and life of Geneva is on the other side of the lake. So you have to walk. It's not far, but your not in the center of it. We were just staying one night as a layover between our travels, so the convenience of the train/airport was wonderful.
