When our travel plans changed we needed to book a hotel for the next day, and chose this one. We were pleasantly surprised. The decor is from the 70's, really quite pleasing and in amazingly good condition. The internet connection was flawless. The food was great. There was a pool and fitness centre though we were too busy being tourists to use those. Across the street was a large park with paths between large trees and a pond with waterfowl. The hotel was close to the streetcar and made an ideal base for a few more days exploring Budapest.
I stayed at this hotel nearly 30 years ago and didn't want to return. So I was truly shocked to see what a great makeover it has had. Clean and cheerful lobby with tables to work at and sit with colleagues, cool looking furniture, a friendly staff. Would now be glad to stay there again, and to hold business meetings.
We stayed 4 nights at this lovely pleasant hotel in march this year.
HOTEL is situated on main busy rd but our room was at back so we're not troubled by noise. Only snag was ac nit working and rooms centrally heated so found it very uncomfortable at night. No windows to open.
Hotel is clean and comfortable on the whole.
Gabon the reception staff was very helpful and polite and gave us plenty of tips.
It's a long but pleasant walk to city centre about 45 min , we enjoyed walking across Elisabeth bridge. Else bus stop just nearby.
breakfast was continental with fair choice.
They should provide use of jacuzzi and sauna as complimentary. It really
was a lovely little spa very clean and serene. We enjoyed relaxing in there end of day with our tired legs having walked to Pest and back.

Gold Hotel is a hotel that I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Budapest. What we got for the price of the hotel was amazing. Free breakfast that had a lot of variety (more fruit would have been nice), lovely clean and luxurious bathroom - power shower. The beds were comfortable, I have slept in better, but have also slept in worse. Very friendly and welcoming staff throughout the hotel. Very pleased with our choice of accommodation.
A quirky place for those who like something a little different from the typical hotel experience. We were well looked after for the 2 nights we were there. Fine old building with lots of character, run by a very nice, professorial gentleman. Free Internet. The "parking" mentioned on the website turned out to be anywhere in the street where you could find a space - about 100m away in our case, so not too bad.

Towering over the city’s west, Gellert Hill is named after Bishop Gellert who fell to his death from the hill in the 11th century. It can be reached either by bus or along one of the walking tracks which wind their way up to the summit. At the top of the hill is the Liberation Monument, built in 1947 to commemorate Budapest’s liberation from the Germans by Soviet troops.
