Pros: the bed was comfy
Cons: curtains, shower & bench space in bathroom
Location: good location
Disappointing room, the bathroom was set up for disabled access but the shower curtain did not go all the way around the shower, there were no hooks to hang your clothes and no bench space anywhere to put toiletries on. The shower head was old and there was very little water pressure. the towels were also quite old and well worn. the bedroom curtains had to be closed all the time as the drapes were sewn together with the sheer curtains and could not be closed seperately.

Hotel close to city

Pros: Excellent staff
Cons: Public ares
Location: Close to city, bus terminal and hospital. Short downhill walk to waterfront and shopping area.
Excellent, friendly and helpful staff. Public areas in urgent need of repainting and refurbishment. Room windows rattled throughout night.

I stayed at the Mercure for business. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The Internet fee of $25 per day is ridiculous!! The parking is $18 per day. The rooms are a good size; but the pool isn't heated and isn't used much. They are lucky there is very little competition in Geelong for business class Hotels. Next time I will be checking the Novotel.
