“Nice Hotel”

The hotel was not too far from town and we were able to walk most every where which was good since the traffic was very bad..

“Theme rooms.........what a joke”

Put some bamboo on the walls and 2 wicker chairs and you have a "safari" themed room. Next time I will sleep in vehicle before I stay there again.

“Cant wait to go back”

Great location and rates i would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Gatlinburg area. We have a small pet and she always stays for free at Red Roof Inn which makes it a perfect hotel for pet lovers. Only 10 minutes back to Pigeon Forge for shopping. We will be staying here everytime we return to the area.

“Worst staff”

Usually there is a door between two rooms, and this door in my room made big problem. I could hear every single word from the next door like they were talking right in my room even they didn't speak aloud, and it continued until 2:30 in the morning. How could I fall in sleep? The worst part was when I called the front desk to require to change the room, the guy who answered the phone said : "who the hell you are? you are a cheap fool. if you call again, I will kick you out and you have to stay on the street without any room." Fortunately I only stay for one night, and this is the worst night I have ever had in any hotel.

“Not Gatlinburg's best”

The motel has just recently became a Red Roof Inn and Suites. It was "extremely dated" Very old furnishings etc. It was however clean. It was advertised as having free breakfast. It did, however, the breakfast consisted of cold cereal and waffles. The waffles consisted of two waffle making machines out of the 50's and one of them did not work. There was a gentleman attending the waffle making process but he spoke very little english and he was very controlling to the point where you were unable to remove the waffles when they were done. furthermore he controlled the amount of non-stick spray that went on the machine before the mixture was put in and he used it sparingly to say the least. Ultimately all waffles that I saw people pulling out were very difficult to remove and therefore most gave up on breakfast there, as did I. Additionally, as I stated above, the reason we chose this motel is that it was advertised as "Ripley's Aquarium" motel. The aquarium was about 10 blocks away. The other main point of discontent was that the people running the motel knew nothing about Gatlinburg, so they we of no help at all in determining things to do, even with regards to restaurants nearby. The bed was so old and uncomfortable that I thought I was having serious back problems. As it turned out, it was just the bed. I normally have no problems with my back. this was very unusual for me. All in all, I would not recommend this motel to anyone, regardless of pricing.

Area recommendations
I am not qualified to make recommendations as to where to stay however I strongly recommend not staying where I did. Based on the period of time we were in Gatlinburg, there appeared to be many great deals at finer motels. This was a particularly slow week for the area since schools just began for the year.
Getting around
Best way to get around in Gatlinburg is the trolley. Driving is no good. Parking is scarce and is at a premium. The trolley runs everywhere.
Must see
All of the Ripley's were great. Of particular interest was the Aquarium. It was very exciting. People should plan on spending several hours there.
Dining
My favorite restaurant from our trip was the Trout House. It was just fabulous food and great service.

“"Very impressed, will definitely return"”

We had a late check in and everything went very smooth. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and pleasant to work with. When we got to the room the A/C would not work so we reported it to the front desk, and the manager immediately moved us to another room. We was very happy with the way management handled the situation. The room that we were moved to was located in a better part of the hotel, which made our stay even better. The room was kept very clean and the staff was all very friendly. The continental breakfast was pretty much the norm, but the staff was friendly and kept the dinning area very clean. All in all we had a great experience at this hotel and would definitely stay here again in the future. Keep up the good work!!!

Area recommendations
Any where in Gatlinburg would be a great place to stay as the city is very beautiful and very enjoyable to spend time in.
Dining
Craw Daddy's in Gatlinburg has the best Grouper dinner ever! The price is great, the portions are plentiful, and the quality of food is superb! Bubba Gumps in Gatlinburg has some delicious beer battered fried Mai Mai, don't miss it!

“Great Fun Room”

Walking in and finding a theme suite was so much fun. Our room was decorated with Persian tapestries, pottery, rattan and beaded curtain and accessories. It was a huge room with a private L-shaped balcony. We were delighted. If was a pleasure to go back to our room to relax after being out all day. A beautiful fireplace added a lot to the room. The bathroom had recent been redone with new vanity and toilet and all fresh paint. There was also dorm-sized refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker in the room for our convenience.it was a great room.

Area recommendations
This was ok about a 10 minute walk to the downtown area. Kind of nice to out of the middle of town but a really nice area. The creek was within viewing distance of the hotel. And the trolley stop was at the end of the drive so you could get on and ride all day for $2 a person and go all over.
Must see
Cade's Cove and other park site...hiking trails, Rainbow Falls, and Clingman's Dome were great but REALLY crowded. Everything in the National Park was a complete traffic jam...so much traffic you'd think you were in Chicago. I wasn't prepared for all that.
