truly an exceptional hotel experience. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful from the valet who helped me out of the car after driving half way across country to the housekeeping staff to the dining staff. Our only issue with hotel staff was the very slow check-in process. there was a large group checking in ahead of us and it tied up all of the staff versus leaving one person to help other arrivals. the hotel is located in the old St Louis train station. The architecture and stained glass are breath taking and very unique. The hotel feel both grand and welcoming. there is a nightly light show in the lobby that I worth watching. we sat it three times!! the outdoor pool I warm and inviting with ample pool side seating and fluffy towels. The hotel is large and it can be a bit of a walk to get to some of the amenities. something to keep in mind if you are traveling with someone who has mobility issues. the rooms are clean, very nicely furnished and comfortable. we were in a standard room and didn't feel crowded with our family of four. There is not a lot of space for privacy for changing in the room so you do have to use the bathroom. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was exceptional but a little pricey. We indulged once during our stay. It is far above your average breakfast buffet with smoothies, bagels with lox, seasonal fruit, a nice variety of sliced cheese, cooked to order eggs, omelets....FABULOUS!
What this hotel may lack in modern decor is definitely made up by the fact the rate is very reasonable, and includes many valuable details: free parking, free internet, free dinner(!), free breakfast, pool for the kids. The staff were amazing..very friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay here again. It's a great money saver when you're taking a budge conscious family vacation.
A good location, about 1 mile from the arch & the river . Good food at the restaurant in the hotel, although this was not owned by the Pear Tree. Food could not be charged to your room !
The hotel was a good standard, very clean and the staff were efficient, friendly. Breakfast consisted of juices, cereals, scrambled eggs & sausage patties. There was an assortment of bread, bagels with a toaster if required..
The Lehmann House is very old and Marie has done a nice job fixing it up. It is not finished, but she is getting there. The breakfast was amazing. The rooms downstairs were great. Our room was large and nicely furnished.
The hotel itself was very clean and quiet! The staff minded their own business which was good but kind of made me feel like I wasn't getting the royal treatment I expected. I will say that coming from out of town and being a Holiday inn employee I expect things from a hotel...especially at $170 a night...
The complimentary breakfast was less than expected but not horrible (only hot item was oatmeal & coffee). The room did not have a fridge or microwave which wasn't very convenient...also the view was of a giant grey wall which wasn't very pleasing. If you take a left on Washington there is some bars/restaurants to check out...but actual downtown is farther than walking distance. They picked us up at Village Ballpark in the Tesla car which was very nice since we had a few drinks. The hotel was nice but for the price I think we could have gotten more luxury and amenities.
Oh and parking was about $30/night where you can park at the hotel next doors parking garage for $16/night.
