Very convenient for north/south travellers

Posted 17-Oct-2014
The room we were allocated was not at all noisy considering we were so close to the A1. A comfortable stay - thank you!

Good hotel within easy reach of Gateshead

Posted 13-Oct-2014
Pros: Location. Low Fell within easy reach. Good bus service stops outside hotel. Although breakfast now extra ,substantial enough. Will stay here again.
Cons: Nothing, although moans about increases,Still good value.
Location: Good location, although few miles from Gateshead ,good bus service. Short bus ride to restaurants and pubs.
Room charge slightly more than last year, but now breakfast not included in room price adding £10 to bill. Also bar meals seem to have increased substantionally. Cheapest item, home made pie not available. Chose superior room which is only £10 more than standard room.Certainly worthwhile to pay extra forlots of extra comfort.

family visit

Posted 29-Sep-2014
hotel was in ideal location for our family party at the nearby golf club. It was also well positioned for getting around Gateshead and although very close to road networks it felt like being out in the countryside. Overall we were very pleased with our stay at the hotel and would definitely go back there. Only complaint was that they never resolved the extremely hot radiator in the bathroom.

Wonderful surprise off the beaten track

Posted 10-Sep-2014
Pros: See above
It was just a one night stay on a long journey south, and required somewhere near the A1 but not along side the A1. Arriving late in the evening, in the dark, the satnav set with the postcode, our fears rose that the satnav had lost it, when it sent us down a dark country un-signposted lane. Our fears disappeared when suddenly the sign Angel View Inn appeared in the headlights. Lovely welcome, large comfortable room, good sleep, curtains opened next morning to see the Angel of the North about 150 yards away. Good breakfast, with very friendly staff, including a resume of the creation of the Angel View Inn from old derelict barns. What a project that must have been and how impressive the final result. Will return and highly recommended.

Great place to overnight on a journey north

Posted 08-Jul-2014
Pros: Location, view of the Angel, convenience to A1, cost
Location: Angel is a dramatic, thoughtful sculpture
Right next to the Angel of the North and pretty much on the A1 this place is ideally located for a quick overnight stay for a long journey north / south and for getting a bit of culture in too. Rooms and the fixed price dinners offer great value

Does what it says on the tin

Nice Hotel, reasonably priced bar meals were decent, lovely waitress at breakfast was rather stretched with serving (perhaps several sets of guests came down together) but was cheery despite the somewhat slow service. And the Angel View? Absolutely! So long as your room is on the right side of the hotel.
