“Unexpected gem in Nimes”

First impressions of the surrounding area was not good but we were amazed when we entered this hotel set in an old stone villa. It was a beautiful building, the welcome and service was extremely warm, the breakfast was lovely and everything was great. However, there is one problem - the room was very warm and with no discernible air conditioning. Windows could not be left open without curtains being open. It is a shame as it spoils what would be a perfect hotel!

Area recommendations
We were so lucky to be in this lovely town when a musical fountain show was taking place in the nearby Gardens. Even without this - Nimes is a fantastic place for anyone interested in the Roman era and the middle ages. Everything is within walking distance which is an added bonus.

“Good value with ambience”

Very nice hotel with charactre (was an old house) we had a nice room but very small (also cheap) would advise paying the extra for the other rooms which are huge. Location reasonable.

Area recommendations
Amazing amphitheatre lovely old town.

“Nimes, new hotel la baume”

This was a decent place for the price and deserves its 3 stars (recognizing how different the system for star rating is over there). Some reviewers were put off by the surrounding street but it really was normal for the town and the location. The carpet in room could be a little fresher and the wifi would be nicer if it was in the room as well. Hotel staff were very helpful. I never eat breakfast at the hotel unless its included and it wasn't. Wish no one smoked in the downstairs area...not sure if it was guests or staff but sometimes it had the smoke stank....Great location close to Les Halles, and in the downtown/old center area of interest. Could park at local parking for 8 euros per day or on streets up from Rue Gambetta for free but that requires a little walk. Was there over XMAS for 5 days and it was slower than it would be in spring, summer or fall.

Area recommendations
Where the hotel is would be perfect for a visitor on the first trip to Nimes. Walk down the street to Les Halles, and short and enjoyable walks to Maison Carre , Carre d'art, Jardin de la Fontaine, and les Arenes. Shopping in old city etc...you are right there...

“Charming Hotel”

We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel La Baume. The staff gave us a large room with a deck. The deck overlooked the rooftops of Nimes. We had a nice wine, bread, and cheese that evening. The room was very large and comfortable. The room was also very modern with a very nice bathroom and modern fixtures. Check out the beautiful staircase in the middle of the hotel. The only downside is the area the hotel is in seems a little sketchy. But, the hotel is located close to most sites. We got a very deal on the room through Expedia.

Area recommendations
The arena (a must see), the Maison Carree, Magne tower, and the temple to Diana. Very beautiful, interesting and within easy walking distance.

“Absolutely beautiful!”

We felt like we were staying in a castle! They have an atrium area that is very beautiful. We regretted that our schedule didn't permit us time to enjoy a cafe there. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. I would enthusiasically recommend it to anyone.

“City centre - lots of character, shame about the noisy neighbours”

The hotel is in a good position for exploring the centre of Nimes and has plenty of character. Unfortunately, there was a lot of noise throughout the nights we were there from people who lived in the narrow street behind the hotel - celebrating and arguing very loudly. The answer might have been to ask for a room on a higher floor or to use ear plugs. This was a pity because it spoiled an otherwise lovely stay. Despite this, we liked the hotel and the staff who were friendly and helpful.

Area recommendations
The centre of the old city is great but be aware that the streets are very narrow and can be noisy at night. There was a superb restaurant called 'Magnolias' just around the corner from the hotel. Reasonable price, good food, friendly staff.

“Hôtel Marquis de La Baume : un hôtel tout simplement parfait !”

L'hôtel est très bien situé dans le vieux centre de Nîmes et il est facile de se déplacer à pied pour aller visiter les endroits touristiques comme la tour magne, la maison carrée et les arènes de Nîmes. Le personnel est très gentil et disponible, j'y retournerai.
