Hotel Diamant is close to the airport. That is it's main attraction. It is a long walk, doable if you know where you are going. The cab ride is not bad, about $4 as I recall. The hotel is not obvious from the street unless you know Korean. There is no English sign, and it sits back off the road in a cluster of other buildings. I figured it out when I realized that Diamant is actually a misspelling of Diamond, and that a blue and red geometric symbol on a building likely was meant to be a diamond.
On arrival, I managed to check in and get to a dark room down a dark hall. The room was functional, and adequately clean, but not more. I was impressed by the large can of insect spray left with amenities such as shampoo and men's aftershave.
I arrived around 2100 with no need for food, and left around 0600 the next morning, so I have little to report about the the general facilities other than it seemed everything was mostly on par with the room. If one just needs a place to crash that is close, this is okay. There is a coffee shop nearby and with a little wandering one could find meals. I think one night would be plenty though.
As a first time visitor to Seoul, the Golden Seoul Hotel was an excellent find. The front desk staff immediately impressed us with their friendly professionalism. All spoke excellent English. Every request for service was fulfilled immediately with an excellent spirit. I am so glad to find this hotel for future trips. The week before we stayed in a hotel for nearly twice the price and the service was terrible. The rooms in the Golden Seoul are not as large as most medium priced US hotels, but for the money, this is an excellent value.
My husband and I stayed here because it was close to Gimpo airport and we took the subway that took about 20 min or so from airport to hotel. It is quite close to the airport and the walk from the subway to the hotel isn't too far if you find the correct direction from the beginning and it will take about 15 min or so, make sure to print out the map (preferably in Korean so you can ask easily). The hotel is kind of located inside from the main road, you should pass the Lotteria and later make right from the intersection (road name is Bear Rd but it's not written in large sign, it was in tiny print so try to ask if you can). It is definitely a love hotel but newly built so the hotel is clean but don't be surprise to see several young couples without any luggage, haha! It has everything you usually need, such as the shampoo, soap, nice clean bathroom, mini fridge, AC, and computer. Not bad but wasn't great either.
