Interesting historic building. My room was small but adequate for one person and well appointed. Because of some street noise and the chiming church belll I needed to keep my window closed at night but the desk fan provided (nerarly didn't see it tucked away in the built in wardrobe) worked perfecftly to keep me cool. at night. Excellent location for visiting the principal tourist sites.
Really enjoyed our stay here. We were there for 4 nights and has everything in Gamla Stan right on your door step. Breakfast buffet was lovely - organic muesli and granola, yoghurt, pancakes, lingonberry jam, eggs of all types, cold meats, cheeses, etc etc. Bar food also was lovely. Room very comfortable and well appointed. If there is a down side the room temperature control wasn't great (too warm) and could do with air conditioning, though a difficult task in an old restored building.
In old town across from the waterfront, convenient for bus 76 taking you to Vassa Museum. Can walk to many churches, Opera house, shopping and more. Staff very friendly and helpful. Shared bathroom and shower, beds and furniture old Ikea stuff. Hotel is over 150 years which is both charming and disappointing at the same time. Price is right for 1 night stay.
Curtains give you some privacy when your light isn't on. Of course, noisy people are still noisy, but I find the noise easier to ignore when I have a little bit of isolation. Staff were very friendly, and the towels were complementary. Internet works fine. They have lockers with keys in case you don't have a lock (also complementary).
we (two adults, 2 children 12 and 10) stayed in the attic room no. 7 at this wonderful period town house in the centre of Gamla Stan. With 2 suitcases we took a short taxi ride from the Arlanda express (train tickets bought online in advance, so I only had to show my payment card to the conductor). The very friendly staff at the hotel had left the key on our door and given us the code for the outside via email before hand so, even though we arrived after 10:30pm, we were still able to get into our nice warm beds with no hassle. on leaving our train was at 5:00am and the hotel staff left us some food in the fridge in our room the evening before as we would not get breakfast that morning, and so we could have something for the trip.- a great touch. The accommodation itself was very spacious, a large sofa bed in the main room for the adults and two single beds in the second room for the boys. Clean through-out with a very good shower (neither mouldy nor a disappointing trickle), there was a small kitchenette with plates, glasses, kettle, pots and pans. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and even my normally critically eagle-eyed better half could not find any faults. - and the floor? wonderful!. as this is an old property, the floor sloped from front to back, the boys had a great time rolling yo-yos, suitcases and themselves down it. great fun for all :o)
The Royal Palace, a Buckingham Palace look-alike, is in Stockholm's Old Town. While the royal family chooses to live in Drottingholm, about a half-hour away, there are tours available, as well as the changing of the guard. The area's major thoroughfare, Västerlånggatan, is a pedestrian area filled with shops and restaurants.
