cleanliness and decor,

Posted 22-May-2014
Pros: Location, it was very close to town.
Cons: A little more attention given to decor.
Location: close proximity to town, everthing within walking distance.
We noted that tablecloth on breakfast bar was touching the ground, it had obviously been in contact with floor cleaning aparatus and was extremely dirty, also cutlery cupboard was extremley dirty and unkept. in bedroom, television and radiator were damaged. also lounge bar was not open to residents until 6pm.

A Loud Hotel

Posted 04-May-2014
I just write this review to warn people who are looking for a quiet place. The structure of the hotel makes for a very loud environment, with voices extremely audible in the hallways and the noise of closing doors very disturbing. Strangely, although I asked for a quiet room I was placed right next to a storage room in which staff frequently congregated, their talking very audible. Although I complained to the front desk about the noise, it did not stop.

Hotel in Eyre square comfortable but noisy

Posted 21-Apr-2014
Pros: DA hotel was in Eyre square
Cons: DA smell in DA bar
We got our dates wrong but the management sorted us with a room.after we put our bags in DA room which was spacious there was p!entry of hot water for a bath and a temperature control if you found DA room temp not to your liking. When we came back from shopping we had a pint in DA bar but we couldn't stay for DA whiff of sewage so we went up town wen we came back at 2 inda morning DA club of DA bar was banging out tunes till three in DA morning

Great location, excellent value

Posted 01-Apr-2014
Pros: Location, helpfulness of staff, great shower, large and clean room.
Cons: A coffee maker in the room (rather than instant coffee) would be wonderful, but I realize that's not typical in Ireland.
Location: Trip to the Burren with Galway Tour Co. Check out trad music at Crane Bar, Taaffes and Tigh Coili. Breakfast/lunch at Coco cafe. Walk the sidestreets.
I was nervous when I realized the Victoria Hotel was literally a block from the bus station, but don't let that put you off. It's actually close to shopping, restaurants, pubs, tourists sights while also feeling secluded and quiet. The hotel staff was polite and helpful and our room was large and comfortable. We didn't end up spending too much time in the hotel, and we never used the bar, but everything that we saw of the hotel was pleasant and comfortable. I definitely recommend it.

Great staff but needs a lick of paint.

Posted 19-Mar-2014
Had a very pleasant greeting from the girl on the desk. All very approachable and helpful. My room was quite old fashioned and the carpet had stains or burn marks in several areas. Very clean, though. Shower was very powerful and did the job. He walls were quite thin as I could hear the people in the neighbouring rooms speak quite clearly even though I was in bed. Was competitively priced so can't complain too much.

Great Galway location

Posted 17-Feb-2014
Pros: Location, price
Cons: Lumpy, hard mattress. Tiny TV w 2 channels.
Location: You can get to all Galway city has to offer from here.
This is an "OK" hotel in a very good location. You can easily walk to the best of what Galway city has to offer from here. There's not much of an atmosphere or "warmth" about the place, however if all you need is a clean place to base yourself in and a pretty decent breakfast, then, this will do nicely. (unlike other reviews, I saw no problem with cleanliness). Just don't expect too much comfort in the dining room or bars - they're not the sort of place to hang out in, but that's not a big deal as there are so many other bars and restaurants so close by... (I did stop for a late night drink in the residents bar but it's not exactly comfy and I for one could have done without the overly loud techno/rap music that was drowning out conversation..) One other negative was the tiny TV with only 2 channels in the room... There's no car parking on the premises BUT you do get a discount at the car park about 5 mins walk down the street and the rate is very reasonable...
