The Victoria Hotel Galway IE

Posted 09-Sep-2014
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Close to all amenities - public transportation, historic venues, shopping, and entertainment.
The Victoria is a great value if you are looking for a hotel which is in easing walking distance of all the amenities which Galway has to offer. It is a very short walk from the busaras and the new coach station. The room we had was huge, very clean, and very comfortable. The restaurant was beautiful and the food was great. Although we didn't spend any time in the pub, we did peek in and everyone seemed to be having a lovely time.

Great location

The location of the hotel is absolutely fantastic. Couldn't be better really. The hotel itself is decent. The bathroom needed a bit of work and the beds weren't super comfortable but we are tourists that really just need a decent place to sleep.

Stayed for two nights. Booked on my mobile in Heuston station on the way to Galway and my room was ready by the time I arrived. Right on Eyre Square 5 minute walk to the train. Clean room and friendly staff. I'd certainly recommend to others.

I stayed two nights at The Victoria Hotel, great to have an elevator to my floor. Continental breakfast was included, Full Irish breakfast or cooked breakfast at a little extra cost. Everything was within walking distance, Railway Station, Bus and taxi service.

cleanliness and decor,

Posted 22-May-2014
Pros: Location, it was very close to town.
Cons: A little more attention given to decor.
Location: close proximity to town, everthing within walking distance.
We noted that tablecloth on breakfast bar was touching the ground, it had obviously been in contact with floor cleaning aparatus and was extremely dirty, also cutlery cupboard was extremley dirty and unkept. in bedroom, television and radiator were damaged. also lounge bar was not open to residents until 6pm.

Around the Corner from Eyre Square, Rail Station

Posted 11-May-2014 on Hotels.com
Excellent location two minutes' walk from Galway rail / coach station, handy if you arrive in the rain. You're just off Eyre Square with pubs and restaurants all around, a sizable shopping mall (equipped with supermarket, etc.) is virtually across the street, and the Spanish Arch / pedestrian shopping area is just five minutes away. So this is a great base for exploring Galway. The property itself is a little shopworn and offers no dramatic views, but quite clean and serviceable. Morning breakfast menu limited and staff rather overwhelmed, with slow service resulting, and the lobby bar was quite deserted in the evenings, and there is no proximate parking should you arrive via car, but those are minor quibbles. It's a good value for tourists.
