Hotel with excellent leisure centre

Posted 18-Nov-2014
Pros: The Leisure centre was excellent. The Reception staff were very very helpful and friendly.
Cons: The bar area is very dark and gloomy and could do with a bit of a make over. The food service in the bar was very poor.
Location: The location is perfect - on the edge of the Atlantic, walking distance from lovely Galway and all that has to offer. On the cusp of Connemara.
I stayed in the Salthill hotel for 2 nights ( and have stayed there before). The Leisure centre is fantastic with a 25metre pool and a kiddies pool, and all the other standards (steam room etc). The gym is also very good and has an excellent assortment of equipment. The bedroom was very nice and comfortable. The reception staff are excellent. The only faults that I would remark on are the bar i.e. the athmosphere is very bad as the bar is very dark and gloomy and the service was also very slow and lacking in detail. Once you ordered and were served, no body came back to check up if all was in order. The food was fine in the bar, it was just a pity that the the service was not good.

Lovely Hotel..

Posted 12-Nov-2014
Had a lovely stay at this hotel, very friendly staff, room very spacious and clean. Good food, only little issue we had was the Bar where we ate was very cold, was like as if AC was on but when we brought it to the attention of staff it was rectified. Only stayed 1 night and definitely intend to go back. Highly recommended..

Nice hotel, would come back again

Posted 21-Oct-2014
Pros: hotel has swimming pool and sauna, great if weather isn't the best.
Cons: Bed in our room might need to be changed, one side was slightly lower than the other
Location: Great for walks by the sea,National Aquarium, Galway city tours. Galway city museum. 10 minutes drive away lots of really nice restaurants and bars.
Enjoyed my stay here, staff were really friendly and helpful, room was clean. Hotel is right beside the beach, nice view to wake up to. Breakfast was good, options for everyone. Hotel bar is nice too, with live music on weekends.

Some nice elements, some not so great.

Location fine- on the prom, on the ocean and walking distance to many resturants and amusements. The work-out and pool areas are top notch. However ask if there are weddings that evening - if so ask for the quietest rooms... other wise the 'thump thump' of the music until 3 is killer.

There was a minor issue with the hot water in my room. It could not have been handled in a better manner. I stay here each time I am in Galway and the staff and overall experience always exceed my expectations.
