Nice central hotel, but not a 4 star

Posted 09-Apr-2015
Pros: Check in staff very friendly
Cons: It's just not a 4 star, bar service was slow
Location: Close to Eyre Square and Shop Street and only 15-20 mins walk to the lively part of town with great pubs and shopping.
A pleasant hotel that's within reasonable walk of Eyre Square but not what I would class this as a posh 4 start hotel. Check in staff were very pleasant and the rooms were fine (clean with comfortable beds though basic) but this hotel feels like a 3 star conference / family hotel rather than a 4 star romantic retreat. Buffet breakfast was decent though service that evening in the bar was very slow despite there being few people in drinking. Silly little things like having to trek out of the bar and down the stairs for the toilets when having a drink seemed a little impractical. That said, it was good value but just don't expect it to stand up to the typical 4 star experience you may have had elsewhere.

Galway Gateway

Posted 02-Apr-2015
Pros: The reception staff were so great and helpful with local information, nothing was too much trouble. Loads of parking in the basement so no issues.
Cons: The room was spacious, bed really comfortable but the carpets were not all the clean looking.
Location: Definitely worth going up to Connemarra for the day or longer. Roads need a full attention but beautiful scenery.
If driving, this is fabulous. Just out of Galway and pretty much at the crossroads to everywhere. Also good shopping within walking distance. The city was also a nice stroll. We were there for St Patricks Day so really good to be just a little out of town.

Good hotel

Posted 31-Mar-2015
Pros: Nice rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast choice and dinner menu.
Location: About 15-20 minutes walk to the city centre or there is a bus stop outside the hotel.
Stayed here 4 nights, rooms are very nice although my first room was by a busy main road so a lot of traffic noise day & night - after my 2nd night I asked if I could move to a quieter room & the staff member was happy to do this. Breakfast choice was good. Staff helpful. Only 15 minute walk to city centre or there is a bus stop nearby. I would stay here again.

Standard hotel nothing special

Posted 29-Mar-2015
Pros: Clean
Location: Got to the shooting area, about fifteen mintue walk to center.
Standard hotel. Would say a solid 3 stars. Clean bathroom, room, and hotel facilities but would not say a four star hotel. The spa looked very nice but we did not use it. We had pizza from the hotel twice and bar area is nice. Walk to town in about fifteen minutes. Not a bad place, just nothing extravagant.

Reasonably priced, accessible hotel

Posted 15-Mar-2015
Pros: Low key and reasonably priced but very functional.
Location: Large department store and other things right next door if you can't walk into main part of town.
Stayed for one night with car. Free parking and easy to get to. Staff was very pleasant and although the hotel is not fancy, the room is nice and clean. Free Wi-Fi. Breakfast was OK and convenient but not spectacular. Was an easy 15 minute walk into main part of Galway, saving the necessity to drive in or cab in.

Cold and uncomfortable and noisy.

Posted 10-Mar-2015
Our room was next to and opposite a hen party, not very nice when away for a romantic weekend, it was also cold, the warm air heating was very noisy, the bed was very uncomfortable, hard ridge through middle, the towels were inadequate, no bath plug, no fridge, limited spa, pay for sauna.

Friendly staff.

Posted 02-Feb-2015
Overall, an enjoyable stay and reception staff were friendly and helpful.Breakfast could have been better; not much variety, food ran out and not great quality. Towels were changed after one day's use even though we followed the instructions to reduce unnecessary laundry in favour of the environment.

dont stay here!

Posted 20-Jan-2015 on Hotels.com
Very disappointed! There was a terrible smell throughout the hotel when I enquired I was told they are having problems with the water pipes but have no plans to rectify at the moment. The room was freezing on arrival we had to plug in an electric heater also the restaurant service was appalling and food wasnt great, we did complain but it was passively dismissed. Waste of money would never even consider this hotel again!

Very Average

Posted 15-Jan-2015 on Hotels.com
Booked this hotel for last minute deal outside Galway City for 2nights whilst home for Christmas. Room was average, First time walked into the room it's was freezing(no heating on feels gives a very unwelcome feeling especially for a 4star rated hotel) not sure why they could'nt just place a king size bed instead of 2beds pushed together (it puzzles me why some hotels do this) the heating system was very noisy if you are a light sleeper then you would not sleep with it on. Overall staff very friendly and breakfast was nice. Don't think I'd stay again!!
