2 days in Galway

Posted 28-Jul-2015
Pros: Breakfast and hotel feel
Cons: Signage for parking.
Spent two days in Galway. Park House Hotel was very well appointed and staff was friendly. Only complaint is that the area to set down for valet parking is not clearly marked. Combined with construction going on in city center I had to stop and let my spouse out to find out where we had to go for parking which included leaving the city and coming back in because of one way roads.

Beautiful hotel within an easy walk of everything

Posted 26-Jul-2015
We wanted to stay in Galway to meet up with our daughter following a college semester. This was a great choice. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great restaurant with breakfasts included in our room charge. Within a stone's throw from Eyre Square and all the shops on Shop Street.

My favourite hotel in Galway

Posted 19-Jul-2015
This is our second time staying at this wonderful hotel. It is conveniently situated between the train and bus stations and a 2 minute walk to the heart of downtown, yet very quiet and peaceful. The style is old world, very charming, luxurious, clean. The bedrooms are a little small but very comfortable with the charm of a bygone era. All the staff are all very friendly and the service is first class. A special mention to Kitty, (maitre d'), she welcomed us back like old friends and looked after our every needs with a concern that was very touching. Another special mention for Diedra (reception), on the last night, unknown to us, there was a problem with the air conditioning unit, it had a slow drip. My girlfriends dress was on the sofa below the unit and was soaked. When this was brought to the attention of Diedra, with quiet efficiency she had the dress dry cleaned and returned to us prior to our departure. We are hoping to return to Galway again next year and are looking forward to staying here yet again.

Good Location

Posted 12-Jul-2015
Pros: The location was close to the main part of town.
Hotel was very nice, lovely character, with sitting areas and restaurant. The parking was a plus and good location. The Hotel bar was nice with good service, food was just pub food, but again pleasant.

A bit overpriced, but excellent location.

Posted 10-Jul-2015
We had some trouble before we even checked in, as we were driving our rental car down narrow Galway streets in search of the elusive hotel car park. We ended up driving the wrong direction down a one-way alley filled with stinging nettle (avoid Frenchville Lane!) all before we even got inside...only to find that parking in the car park cost extra! Once we had paid the fee and the porter took the car, however, things improved. Our room was clean and comfortable, though a bit cramped with what I thought to be an excess of heavy furniture. The bathroom was clean and spacious with a great shower, but an ancient wall-mount hair dryer that hardly worked. Rory at the front desk was very kind, gave us a map of the city straight away and recommended popular sites and places to eat. We skipped the hotel bar and restaurant, so I can't comment on food services. My favorite thing about the Park House is the location. It is directly across from An Pucán, an amazing pub/restaurant with live music, and it is a short walk from Eyre Square and Quay Street. While I thought it was a bit pricey, considering parking and breakfast aren't included, the convenient location was worth the extra cost to me.

June 2015

Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Earlier check in.
Location: Within easy walk is Eyre Square and the Spanish quarter with shops, restaurants, and pubs.
Great hotel in a good location with parking. Short walk to the Spanish quarter with restaurants, shops, and music. Breakfast was included and is excellent. the only downside was that check in was not until 4 pm . We checked in early at 3 pm but would have much liked much earlier since we came in from the US and arrived at 8:30 am and tired from the overnight.

Excellent service and friendluness

Posted 28-May-2015
Pros: See above
Cons: Nothing!
Location: City centre with numerous points of interest within walking distance.
This is a top notch hotel which demonstrates Irish hospitality and friendliness at its best. Staff were without exception helpful and polite. Most have worked at the hotel for years and take real pride in it. Rooms were clean and more than adequate. However, it is important to realize that this is a traditional hotel and does not have all "modern amenities" such as a fitness centre. However, it is a comfortable place to stay! The food in the dining ares was excellent. The breakfasts were the best we have ever tasted and we were served at the table with many choices being offered. Would highly recommend this hotel.
