Excellent Hotel. Staff exceeded all expectations

Posted 22-Apr-2014
Arrived tired and late. Got lost on the way. Staff stayed on phone to direct me to hotel. Nothing was a problem. Anything that could be done to make stay more comfortable was sorted asap. Very cheerful welcome was gratefully received. Central location near to work and amenities. Map and directions impeccable. No problem dealing with my erratic hours. Unfailingly cheerful in face of late arrival, early departure, queries and requests.

The staff and the room were great. We were greeted with tea and cake as we waited for our room. Lobby was comfortable and felt like being home.

Classy hotel, extremely convenient for travelers

Posted 01-Apr-2014
Pros: Quiet, classy, extremely convenient for tourists
Cons: Nothing that I saw
Location: Train station is right around the corner, main shopping streets and nightlife just a couple blocks through the square, beautiful canal walk beyond the
We were in Galway for just one night, to see the night life, and then for an irish breakfast in the morning. The hotel is right around the corner from the train station, so very easy to get to and from. The staff was friendly and professional, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Made me sorry we just had the one day (18 hours total) in Galway.

Hotel was fine, food was lacking.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, but after a breakfast and lunch there we were ready to move on. The food left something to be desired.

Disappointing overall

Posted 31-Mar-2014
Pros: It was conveniently located near the train station.
Cons: Decor, lobby ventilation, check-in procedures.
Location: A three minute walk from the train station; a five minute walk to main downtown, touristy area; across the street from several pubs.
Our stay at the Park House Hotel was rather painful. They apparently hand transfer Expedia reservations to their own reservation system (i.e. look at a computer screen and then write down the reservation information by hand), and in doing so, they mistook my middle name as my last name, which is understandable as my middle name isn't typical. Therefore, they couldn't find a record of my reservation. However, instead of immediately rectifying this issue, they asked me to "wait, while they dealt with other customers" and then had me and my fiance sit in the lobby for 30 minutes while they checked in multiple other people. It's one thing for a hotel to make an honest mistake, but it's another to punish the customer for that same mistake. They seemed generally clueless. In terms of appearance, the hotel looked and smelled like a nice old-folks home. I get that your restaurant is right off the lobby, but I suggest an upgrade in the ventilation system. The whole area reeked of old food smells, which might be related to the heavy carpet, curtains and upholstered furniture which absorb odors like a sponge. Our hotel room itself was perfectly adequate, but nothing to write home about. We won't be returning.

Would recommend this hotel without hesitation of any sort. Well located, close to Eyre Square, bus station, and main shopping area. Very clean! Staff couldn't have been more helpful. This is a 4.9 hotel.

Great location, very nice staff

Couldnt have asked for a better location when staying in Galway. This hotel is right next to the bus/train station, convenience store, bars, shops, restaurants, everything. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The only negative thing was the lack of fridge in the room, but that wasnt a big problem at all. Highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel, close to pubs and shops.

Posted 26-Mar-2014
Pros: The hotel was clean and roomy.
Location: We loved the fact that there were plenty of sites to see and places to go within a short walking distance.
We were able to easily park our rental car in the hotel lot. Many other locations we stayed we had to park in a garage which was a little annoying. The staff was very friendly. They gave us umbrella's to use and were very helpful.
