Not up to scratch

Posted 21-Jul-2015
Doesn't deliver on its suggestions, and is definitely not 4 star! Was fine. I was in Galway for an interview, so rang to request a quiet room. They gave me one above the bar; it was quiet past 11pm, not suitable for a business traveller with an early start and stressful day. Bed was comfy. Room was clean enough, but not spotless and a bit banged around. There was a problem with my booking, which they didn't have on the system as including breakfast. Wouldn't be an issue as these things happen, but I had to explain and show email to 3 members of staff. Breakfast itself was a bit sad - I wasn't given the menu for hot options and although I tried to attract the attention of the staff, they were not interested. It probably would have been fine if I hadn't been there for an interview, but I was pretty stressed and therefore didn't want to complain. A hotel more used to catering for large groups than individual travellers.

Very nice hotel & great value

We stayed 1 night here; unfortunately on a rainy evening so we didn't explore Galway. But the hotel was very nice; definitely the best deal in the area. Breakfast was excellent!

Comfortable, spacious hotel in Galway

Posted 27-May-2015
Pros: Staff, room, breakfast
Cons: Our only (minor) complaint was the heating got a bit too warm, until we worked out how to turn it down
Location: Just out of Galway City Centre, close enough to walk
The hotel is a little bit out of town, about 25 minutes walk (in the rain) into city centre, 5 minute drive. We had a car so it was better for us, as parking in the centre can be difficult. It suited us. Staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful. They booked a couple of tours for us, and then were really interested to know if we enjoyed them. Our room was huge, breakfast was substantial and the wifi efficient. Highly recommended.

Good location

Posted 28-Apr-2015
Pros: Mistakes were made but the staff were quick to apologise and to take responsibility. In life mistakes happen and correcting them is essential.
Cons: The hotel will probably need a facelift soon.
Location: Ideal for visiting west Ireland and if the weather is good it's perfect. Cathedrals, castles, beaches, hills etc in abundance.
The hotel was easy to find, parking was no problem although the traffic in Galway is terrible at times. Food in the bar was just what we needed when we wanted something. Prices were reasonable as well. Staff were always cheerful.

Nice hotel, nothing fancy, outside city centre

Posted 26-Apr-2015
Pros: Clean
Location: Location was outside city centre, but easy access
A little outside city centre but close enough by car. More of an American style hotel, but fine.
