“Sleepless nights”
The room was nice enough. No wi-fi in the room though and only about 3 tv channels. A full breakfast was advertised which turned out to mean continental. The bar/restaurant was very unappealing and uncomfortable with big TVs on all walls showing sport. The real problem was the noise. A very noisy fan meant I did not like to switch the light on in the toilet at night. Noisy pipes kept going all night. The walls were thin so I could hear others talking next door. Unfortunately when they made love at 3 in the morning their bed banged against the wall behind the head of my bed making everything shake. This is in an area on the main square that seems to attract party goers.
“Good location”
My husband and I stayed here for a night on our recent 10 day trip to Ireland in March 2011. It was located right next to lots of shops, pubs, and things to see, however, the parking garage where they have discounted parking was quite a distance away and was not helpful for people with suitcases. The breakfast in the morning was nice and made the price worth it. The room was large and we had an extra twin bed in the room beside our queen sized bed. The beds weren't that comfortable but it was ok for one night. We definitely could hear other people in other rooms but it wasn't too bad. We probably would look for someplace else next time we went but it was ok.
“A gem in Galway”
When returning to Galway I'll definitely choose the Imperial again! Although kept very busy, the staff were extremely helpful. The location is perfect, right on Eyre Square where there is a tourist info booth! The only slight criticism I could make is that the rooms aren't very soundproof and my bathroom tap leaked. I ate at the hotel and the fare was authentic. Breakfast was included and it provided plenty of choice. I stayed for 6 days and the wifi worked throughout.
“Central location, but not in good condition”
Comfortable enough bed and nice TV in the room, large room with free internet. However the bathroom was dirty, some tiles were broken and the bath had cracks. The bath tub was dirty too, we only used the shower. There seemed to be maintenance on some of the room which started early each day and made a lot of noise. The buffet breakfast provided is quite good with cereals, bread for toast, eggs, tea/coffee etc, pastries - a good option as eating out in Galway is quite expensive. The location was really good, close to the train station and within walking distance of everything. Staff were not very friendly.
“Home Away From Home”
I studied abroad at NUI in Galway. It had become my second home. I went back to visit all my friends there and choose the Imperial Hotel for its location. It was a great hotel and we had good view of Eyre Square. The room was large and it was very convenient that breakfast was served until almost noon. Hopefully, I will be going back yearly.
“Disappointed”
Check-in and check-out was met by an unwelcoming woman at the front desk. Room was a good size and clean. However, the noise at night was too much. Construction in the hotel was loud and started early in the morning. Some hallway lights worked, some did not.
“Not perfect but not to shabby”
I was rather amazed at the number of people who where staying in the hotel. From the outside, it doesn't seem like it could possibly hold that many people. Overall it was perfect for myself and my boyfriend. If you wanted your room clean then hang the sign on your door. If not, turn the sign around and hang it on your door. Our bed was nice and comfy. If I needed help with something I can ask the front desk and depending on who's servicing, you would get all the help you can possibly need. One manager in particular, and I forgot his name, was quite helpful and friendly at that. He diserves a raise. The free 'continental' breakfast could use a little work, but hey, it was free and anything free taste good. Also, being in the heart of everything wasn't so bad either. Right around the corner are the shops, pubs, and restaurants. Perfect location. Overall, I definately recommend this hotel if you're planning a visit to Galway.
“Hotel liegt total zentral, direkt in der Fußgängerzone und den beliebten Pubs”
älteres Hotel aber sauber und ordentlich. Primär ist die Zentrale Lage in der Innenstadt und die Nähe zu Pubs und der Fußgängerzone.
“buon hotel”
camere spaziose e confortevoli, buona colazione e buona cucina, cortesia e disponibilità. Ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo.
