convenient

Pros: Convenient for Galway city and also for travelling afar. Free car parking was useful. The the bar was friendly and the food was good.
Cons: Rooms could do with updating but clean and comfortable
Location: One day spent in Galway city visiting sights, took an open bus tour and did shopping. 2nd day visited Kylemore Abbey and Galway Crystal.
Spent three nights while visiting friends in the South of Ireland. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, our room was clean and comfortable, it was a bit dated but as we spent most of our time visiting the area we didn't spend much time in the hotel. We used the local transport to get into the city, the bus stop was outside the hotel and the bused were quite regular up to about 19:00 hrs. We used the bar for food, it had a good range of choice on the menu and it was well prepared. The atmosphere in the bar was very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay at Flannery's Hotel and Galway was excellent , we would stay here again.

Nice hotel on the edge of town

Posted 19-Sep-2014
Given that we paid less than €60 a night, this hotel was perfectly adequate, with friendly staff and a large comfortable room, with everything in working order. It was a bit of a drive into town, but for the price, I can't complain. Breakfast was very reasonnably priced and consisted of a generous buffet

Nice clean hotel

Great little hotel for the price. A bit far to walk into town, but manageable. Floors squeak, but everything is clean, neat, and the staff were great.

Pros: The big king size bed and great value priced meals.
Cons: Air conditioning in the rooms and main dining room, but we understand the heat and humidity of this July 2014 is very rare in Ireland.
The accommodations were very good, we would stay there again. They offered excellent meals at great value, especially lunch! We were able to walk from hotel to downtown Galway. Only drawback was no air conditioning in the room. We had the window open but still unable to cool down the room during Ireland's rare heatwave.

Good Place

Posted 02-Aug-2014
Pros: Location to Galway City, friendly staff, clean
Cons: Provide washcloths (we're American)
Location: Easy bus trip into Galway City; easy to get a taxicab. Nothing much in the immediate vicinity, but the University is nearby and bus stops in front
This is our third stay at Flannery's. We stayed 7 nights. Room was good size, bed comfortable. Every staff person we encountered (front desk, maintenance or administrative) was friendly and helpful: always a greeeting and always a request was cheerfully filled. Breakfast was good and the bar lively. Maid service was excellent, linens and towels crisp and fresh.

Pros: Leaving
Cons: The TV, the toilet, the door lock and the sobriety of certain guests
Where do I a start? Was it the room card keys that wouldn't work? I really didn't want to walk back down from the third floor to have them remake new keys, especially after dragging suitcases all the way up to our room. The chambermaid let us in after trying to use our key and failing. I finally got the key to work after 4 minutes of angling the card different ways in the slot (management, if you are reading this....we were in room 329). Finding the toilet seat cover on the floor next to the toilet was both tacky and sad. Not too be too nitpicky, but the TV is below the level of the bed as the television stand is only 18 inches high off the floor. Please don't reply that this is standard in Ireland. I've traveled to Ireland three times now and have never seen this oddly constructed and placed TV. I guess it was a moot point as the channel changer didn't work. All in all, it was a roof over our head and we were out of the rain for a quite night in our room until the drunks stated their 5 am conversation in the hallway. Next time i'll just sleep in the car; at least I know the radio works.

Convenient and friendly hotel

Posted 20-Jul-2014
Booked this hotel last minute for a one night stay in Galway. Bit of a walk to the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas but definitely doable. Friendly staff, good food, late night pub on premises. The rooms were clean. No complaints at all. If I end up for the night in Galway someday again, I would look this place up.
