“Alway's A Pleasure..”

Stayed at the Hilton 3 days prior to cruise. This hotel is right on the main strip and it is surrounded by Restaurants ..Stores..Bars. Souvenier shops.. bike rentals an other activites. Everthing is within walking distance..there is a Krogers an Walmart also close by. We walked to Krogers to get snacks for room. The Hilton does not allow outside food but they did not push the issue of not allowing you to bring it to room. They don,t have microwave in the rooms. The room was very clean an comfortable we had a room in the Tower that looked directly over the Gulf . It was a beautiful sight to leave all the curtains open an wake up in the morning an admire the beauty of the ocean from your bed. They do have room service which was very reasonable. I have stayed here numerous times an I have never been disappointed. Also a must is to go to Landrys Steakhouse its next door just walk over or the Rain Forest . The Hilton also has a gym ..a gift shop ..and they have a restaurant on site also (very good food). My own personal opinion is you can,t go wrong when staying here.As I stated it's Always a Pleasure...oh they also offer cruise transportation to port as well as you can leave your car on the Hotel property for free an they will pick you up from port when you return from cruise..It cost $10 a day to park your car at the port..so this saves you money..

“Over priced "resort"”

Typical high end Hilton that charges for everything. I'm surprised they don't put a coin slot on the elevators. Many small things were noticeable in our stay. Bathroom tile in room 516 really needed some bleaching. Floor indicator light out in one of the elevators. No lobby coffee available after breakfast. Fitness center had no spray bottles to wash down equipment. Air conditioner was a real rattler. We actually recently sold a condo a few blocks away so this was a goodbye visit to Galveston. The location of this hotel is excellent as the beach is right across the street and the convention center next door. The pricy Rain Forest Cafe is there as is the slightly more reasonable Landry's. But just head down Seawall towards 61st street and go to Tortuga and another block to Golden Corral for the cheaper buffets. 61st. street has all the save money fast food places. As far as the hotel the one redeeming feature is the ocean view rooms with balconies but if you are price conscious there are plenty of places around the place at less than half the price such as Best Western and Quality Inn.

Area recommendations
Go to Strand District and head to one of the restaurants in that area along the waterfront. Willy G's is a personal favorite. Head to the museum's on the waterfront. Some interesting places. Don't forget Moody Gardens and the air museum, Head up I-45 to Kemah Boardwalk and NASA. In Galveston there are many Victorian homes that are open at certain hours. If you wish to stay downtown try the Tremont House.

“Making money on the extras”

This is a pleasant hotel in a good location, and the room rates were good. However, there were extra charges for internet and breakfast and no coffe in the lounge. It looked lovely but it felt as if they were aiming to boost my final bill. My friend had a breakfast discounted on her bill. I had exactly the same meals, and did not ...

“A little disappointed”

Lobby and rooms were very nice but I definitely missed some amenities that I expected to find at this hotel. For example, internet service was available....at an additional charge. Continental breakfast was not offerred, although I thought it was listed in the description. Coffee was available in the lobby on Friday morning but not on the weekend? We did call maintenance once night and they promptly fixed the minor problem we had. There was no mini frig in the room which would have been very convenient especially since we had a little one with us. The housekeeping staff were very kind. I would recommend this hotel but I would also warn others about what found.

“Will stay there any time I go to Galveston.”

We arrived a few hours early expecting to wait for available rooms. We were given rooms immediately and checked-in. Front desk lady was extremely helpful and even up-graded our adult kids and grandson's room so they could be next door to us. A free shuttle to the cruise terminal saved some time and $$. It was a great experience and we will definitely stay there again when in Galveston!

“mildly overpriced”

It was an ok stay, decent amenities. Was displeased either the "ocean view" that I paid a premium for.
