“Not Impressed - Could have been better for the money”

We did not have a sufficient amount of water pressure for showers. You could tell this was not a priority. Water was hot, but in the morning when others were likely getting ready as well the water pressure was much less and inconsistent.

“A cheap clean room with terrible service”

I thought that overall this hotel was a good value, but was very disappointed in the service. The positives were that it was a cheap clean room overall, it smelled good and was pretty clean with comfortable beds. The hotel is in a convenient location right across the street from a 24 hour Walmart, so that was nice. The negatives were that the toilets had terrible water pressure and you had to hold the handle until it was finished flushing, and even then you had to flush twice. I was also very disappointed in the service and the lack of keeping up with the breakfast items. The first morning of our stay my nephew got biscuits and gravy only to find out that the biscuits were frozen solid. The second morning of our stay I had to wait 10 minutes for some gravy, then when she brought some out it was barely lukewarm. I had to stick them in the microwave to get them at an edible temperature. I used to work as a night auditor at a hotel for years, and I had to check people out and take reservations and keep up with the breakfast by myself. This hotel had TWO people working the front desk, and they still couldn't keep up with the breakfast items. I was EXTREMELY disappointed in the service. They seemed like nice people and were polite, but there is no excuse for TWO people not keeping up with the breakfast items. The hotel itself is fine except for the toilets, but the service was just horrible I'm afraid. It is a good value, but the breakfast ruined it.

“Average.”

Our stay was comfortable but the "customer service" needs help. We arrived on a motorcycle and it rained the last half of our trip. I asked the person at the front desk if she had any additional hangers so we could dry our clothes. She looked under the front desk and said "no." No attempt was made to look elsewhere. I was rather disappointed to say the least.

“Quite good”

Before booking a room at this hotel, we looked at its reviews. Some reviews from Fall 2010 pointed out that the hotel was under renovation. So we booked our room assuming it will have been renovated. And yes it was! The room was priced reasonably compared to other hotels in the neighborhood. The building looks old from the outside, but the lobby was better. Had to take the stairs to go to our second floor room. Our room looked newly renovated. The bed was clean with clean linen and the bathroom was new and clean. Liked the shower - lots of water and lots of hot water. The breakfast was from 6 to 9:30am, and when we reached at 9am, everything seemed to be replenished. Nothing fancy about the breakfast, but the notable thing is that there was a girl who quickly kept cleaning and replenishing the breakfast items. We stayed there for one night only, so we did not use the the swimming pool. One bad thing was that we could hear the people from the neighboring room (they were loud though) in the afternoon when we checked in, but did not hear any noise in the night. Overall, it is a clean and comfortable place to stay when visiting Dubuque and Galena.

“Pleasant, Clean, Convienent and Priced Right”

Nice hotel for the $$. Close to Kennedy Mall, WalMart, Target, Welgreens, HobbyLobby, Hyvee and downtown Dubuque.. A+ Pleasant kept staff - nonworking light fixed immediately. Booked one king but they only had 2 queens which was fine by me. Breakfast was so-so: cereal, waffle maker, bagels, fruit & yogurt. but I'm a very lighyt breakfast person anyway. Were some cracks in the bathroom floortime and some other small signs of bldg wear but I wasn't expecting the TajMahal on what I was paying. I was very happy with my stay and plan to stay there again. Stayed Wednesday Aug. 25, 2011.

“Good hotel for the money”

We needed an inexpensive hotel in the Dubuque area. This one was good for what we needed it for - just a place to sleep. The breakfast was ok too - it had the basics.

“Doesn't Live Up to Baymont Quality”

The soda machines were empty and there was no soda or water anywhere in the facility. The carpets needed vacuuming and the bathroom floor was dirty. The facility did not live up to the Baymont name.

“Conflicting stays”

Stayed at this Dubuque Baymont on two consecutive Saturdays in July. For a 100% Smoke-Free Hotel, the first Saturday's stay was awful. The hallway and especially the room totally smelled like smoke. If we weren't in such a hurry for an event at check-in, would have demanded at least a room change. By 9AM the next morning, breakfast items were all picked over, so had to eat elsewhere. The second Saturday's stay was much better. Room was much nicer and smelled fine. Breakfast was well supplied the next morning. If these stays weren''t already prepaid, I probably would have cancelled the second night's stay, but all ended OK. I think remodeling was still ongoing, so maybe the first weekend's stay was in an older wing.

“Comfy and Cheap”

I was a little weary about the outside but we loved our room from the inside! The #1 priority for me is to sleep in a comfy bed and we got it! We had an ok breakfast and the staff was very helpful. When we come back to Dubuque we will definitely stay at this hotel.
