Pros: proximity to CSUF
Cons: the hotel seems very old, could use a more modern look.
our first room had a terrible odor left from decades of smoking, the staff was able to locate a "non-smoking" room that was much better.

decent hotel for the price. not much to do in Fresno. asked for a room with a view not on 1st floor and guess what I got? 1st floor room with a view of another door. you truly do get what you pay for

Housekeeping

Pros: Location to campus and sports venues
Overall not a bad stay and the food was fine in the morning. Great location to tour campus and also to walk to the football stadium. Only issue was dirty washcloths were hanging in the shower and one dirty towel was left hanging on the door.

OK hotel next to Fresno St.

Needs updating. The common areas could be cleaner. The breakfast area could use some rearranging .

This hotel was nice ... 20 years ago

Posted 09-Nov-2014
Pros: Leaving. Yes, I liked leaving.
Cons: Major renovation. It should be the star of some reality show to tear out all of the interior details and rebuild. The external framing is fine.
It is obvious this was probably a nice hotel 20 years ago. But now it is a run down dump. You can see doors that were patched and repaired many times, and they don't even bother painting over the damage. When we first walked in, the chemical smell of something used to clean the carpet or something was over powering. It was terrible. A bunch of lights were out in the hallway to our room. The room details (bed, tables, carpet, etc.) are at least 20 years old. I'm shocked this place has a 3.8 rating. Maybe it should be a 3.8 if it is a 1 start hotel.

Filthy hotel

I was inspecting the bed and the mattress pad /cover was covered with a multitude of dark hairs . The price was right , but the bed was gross . Breakfast was fair .

Nice surprise for price

Pros: Easy check-in, convenient location, peaceful and comfortable setting, comfortable bed, nice furnishings, large bathroom with nice bathtub and shower.
Cons: Key cards do not always work on the first swipe, I had to repeatedly swipe my card to open the exterior door of the building.
Location: Within walking distance of many restaurants and shopping.
I had made reservations at another hotel for two nights, after the first night I was extremely disappointed with where I was staying. I checked to see what the rates were at the University Hotel and they were the same as the other chain I was staying at. I switched hotels and was very happy with my decision! I was hesitant at first because I'm 55 years old and was not sure about staying next to a college with possible noisy college students. This was not the case at all. The staff was very pleasant, the room was night and day difference from the other hotel, very large and comfortable with a pleasing design. I also liked the interior hallways as it made me feel safer traveling alone.

Been fascinated with the comfortness..

Posted 17-Oct-2014
Starting with how clean everything is from lobby to each room.. As well the beds are very comfortable and most important that it's a non-smoking place.. Breakfast nice and warm with fresh juice & coffee in the morning.. I couldn't ask for anything better..

Just staying overnight

Posted 17-Oct-2014
Cons: Have a better tasting breakfest
My wife and I really liked our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. There were several nice restaurants close to the hotel. The free breakfast left a lot to be desired. The food just tasted lousy. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.....
