Nice surprise for price

Pros: Easy check-in, convenient location, peaceful and comfortable setting, comfortable bed, nice furnishings, large bathroom with nice bathtub and shower.
Cons: Key cards do not always work on the first swipe, I had to repeatedly swipe my card to open the exterior door of the building.
Location: Within walking distance of many restaurants and shopping.
I had made reservations at another hotel for two nights, after the first night I was extremely disappointed with where I was staying. I checked to see what the rates were at the University Hotel and they were the same as the other chain I was staying at. I switched hotels and was very happy with my decision! I was hesitant at first because I'm 55 years old and was not sure about staying next to a college with possible noisy college students. This was not the case at all. The staff was very pleasant, the room was night and day difference from the other hotel, very large and comfortable with a pleasing design. I also liked the interior hallways as it made me feel safer traveling alone.

Been fascinated with the comfortness..

Posted 17-Oct-2014
Starting with how clean everything is from lobby to each room.. As well the beds are very comfortable and most important that it's a non-smoking place.. Breakfast nice and warm with fresh juice & coffee in the morning.. I couldn't ask for anything better..

Just staying overnight

Posted 17-Oct-2014
Cons: Have a better tasting breakfest
My wife and I really liked our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. There were several nice restaurants close to the hotel. The free breakfast left a lot to be desired. The food just tasted lousy. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.....

In need of updating

Posted 13-Oct-2014
Pros: The rate was excellent, especially on a night where a huge concert was being held. are it is within walking distance to the venue.
Cons: Improve the breakfast or discontinue it. Most items were only lukewarm and not very good.
Location: The Black Angus and Marie Callendar's restaurant share a parking lot, across the street from Fresno State, SaveMart Center within walking distance.
This hotel is old and tired. We stayed there a few years ago when it was under different management. It is now showing its age. Our room had 4 lamps, but only two of them had light bulbs. Cost cutting measure? Over all it was fine for our one night stay, and the rate was excellent. The breakfast left A LOT to be desired.

Inexpensive and convenient.

Posted 09-Oct-2014
Pros: The rate was very reasonable and the staff was pleasant.
Cons: Better lighting in the rooms. The ice-cream comb bulbs are inadequate for reading. They also charge $50 in advance to cover theft/damage.
Location: Walk to Fresno State University; also convenient for hopping on the freeway.
This hotel is a good value if you just need an inexpensive place to sleep while visiting Fresno. However.... The lighting in the rooms is very poor, so if you need to read or study bring a real light bulb. Also, guests have to leave the building to get to the lobby, which might make some people a little nervous at night. Last, but not least... they charge $50 up front to cover theft and damage, which they promise to refund if you don't steal the T.V. ? What's up with that?

Close to campus

Hotel is clean and close to campus and football stadium. Breakfast was hot and tasty but would like to see the bar open at night. Was closed the night we stayed.
