Old "theme" hotel that's been upgraded

Posted 24-Nov-2014
A long time ago, it seemed every type of business was "themed" - not just restaurants like Outback Steakhouse with its fake Aussie shtick, but motels, car washes, carpet showrooms - it's like everyone thought they needed to make their business a Disney attraction. Here and there you find one of these still in business. Piccadilly Inn is one of those, it's a big Victorian England-themed motel. The different buildings have names like "Camelot", the restaurant is named "Oliver's" (from Oliver Twist, get it?), the lights on the walkways look like Victorian gaslamps, etc. Piccadilly Inn has been upgraded but the rooms are basically the same - we had a space heater on one wall to heat the room and the ceiling was sparkly/bumpy. The bathroom was new, the furniture in the room was new, there's a flat-screen TV, and because it was all built years ago, the room itself was a bit larger than the rooms they build now. The staff is pleasant and polite. There were a few negatives...the wifi existed and took a password...but that's all I can say about it. Logging on didn't work and I gave up. They have a Keurig coffee maker in the room, which is nice, but when we asked for another pod of tea, they wanted $1.00 for it. An advantage is that most of the buildings are one or two story, and spread out, and we got a room far in the back away from the street, so it was quiet.

Disappointing rooms

Posted 22-Nov-2014
Hotel looks nice from the outside, but the room cleanliness was "third world". There was a cockroach in the bathroom upon check-in, gross!! Wallpaper peeling inside bathroom. Vents were full of dust. Someone knocked on my door at 1am. Experience was just nasty all around!

Nice room. Clean & roomy. Nice staff.

Posted 19-Nov-2014
Pros: Size of the room
Cons: Can't think of anything
Location: There for shopping and everything we needed was close by.
In town on a shopping trip. The room was roomy and clean. Liked that the tub and toilet was separate from the vanity area. Check-in was handled by a very nice and friendly staff member who made sure we had everything we needed.

My 3rd visit here. Very consistent. I'll continue to return. Having the bat on site is a nice end of day plus!

Don't make a reservations at this hotel

Posted 12-Nov-2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: New paint, new carpet, all torn up and dirty floor
When arrive, clerk gave us the room key as we walk to the room we entered into a hall way that was so smelly of something, as others would call a Backed-up Toilet that has just ran over with crap everywhere, it was just god ugly, when called to front desk about the smell, a clerk came with an EMPTY bottle of Fan-Breeze to spray, she told us to put water in it. She said they just washed the carpets, others we met in the hall said the dame thing, we put a wet towel by the door to keep out the smell and open all the windows. We did not sleep only because we were afraid, its was later so we could not look for any other hotel and we gad driven so far an were very tired. We asked for another room, but of course heir were no other rooms available. Upon leaving VERY EARLY in next morning we did see the Manager which was very nice and she discounted our room rate and told us that they did have another room we could of taken and told the other clerk about it, but the clerk told us their was no other rooms. Bad experience at that hotel and will not ever go back

Cold room, but nice facilities

Posted 31-Oct-2014
Just stayed here on business and while the room was nice and clean, I could not get the heat to come on and was unusually cold. That was room 126, in case the staff wants to look into it.

Excellent stay in a well maintained hotel.

Posted 20-Oct-2014
Pros: Food! Whirlpool. Friendly staff.
Location: On Shaw (a very good thoroughfare). Chase, Wholefoods, AAA, and a host of other things, like restaurants, and grocery stores are within a mile.
The Shaw Piccadilly is a large hotel. It has a pool, and more importantly a whirlpool. It is in a good part of town. It has a bar with big screen TV. In the morning it has a hot breakfast included: fruit (apples, oranges, bananas), pastries and toast, fresh pancakes from a cool machine, cereal, milk, scrambled eggs, sausages, awesome potatoes, oatmeal, tea, coffee, juice, milk, and more. Comfortable beds. Relatively quiet. Free Internet. I highly recommend it and will be coming back.

Nice staff outdated rooms

Posted 19-Oct-2014
Very outdated and smelly rooms, everything in the room is old, many things in bad shape. Noisy equipment maybe air conditioning or a water pump just outside our room, could hear it all night. Old carpet, old and broken lamps, old tables, old wall paper actually starting to peel off, old tile in the bathroom, cheap shower curtains, etc.

Basic hotel

Posted 17-Oct-2014
Pros: The pool has nice setting in middle of unattractive accommodation. Breakfast was reasonable.
Cons: The decor was very dull. The pillows were uncomfortable and felt old and the smell was very unpleasant.
Location: Reasonable location some shops and restaurants nearby.
Hotel corridor and room.smelt like nursing home. Kitchen closed at 9 pm so we h ad very mistreating options locally after long drive to get there. Very basic hotel.
