Some Good and Some Bad... Posted 13-Apr-2015 on Hotels
Let me say for the most part this was a decent Hotel. Very clean, more than most, and the beds were very comfortable. Room Service quality, while not the greatest, was decent for the price. Now the bad, only two things, but they were very annoying. One had to do with basically something the Hotel may not have much control over, and that’s location. This hotel is located in the middle of some industrial type park, and there were loud generator type noises the entire night, so either the noise was that loud or the sound proofing of the windows not great. This made for very difficult sleep. The 2nd issue is more to do with a very bad decision of Doubletree Corp., and that is the elimination of video on-demand. They state that they did not feel the need to offer videos after switching to Direct TV, but that would only make sense if you offered some sort of alternative, instead they offered one obscure HBO channel. I've never stayed in a hotel that if they did not offer video on-demand, did not at least have a DVD player of some sort (VCR back in the day) for you to at least play a movie you bought from somewhere else. I don't always take advantage of this service, but it was one I missed this time as I was actually looking forward to relaxing with a movie after a long road trip. I still wanted to give 3 stars, but given I will not stay in a Doubletree until this is at least resolved, and certainly not this one given the noise issue, I had to knock it down to 2 stars.

Thank you for your candid and detailed review. Please allow us to respond to the main concerns. Location - yes we are located downtown Fresno, with easy access to the various freeways and downtown locations. We understand that all guests have their own threshold for exterior noise levels. We do offer earplugs for sensitive guests so that they may get a good night's rest. Video Entertainment: We have found that, with the digital technology available today, most guests travel with some type of mobile device and have their own preferences in entertainment (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc). As noted, we do offer HBO and HD TV Channels; additionally our new TVs offer HDMI connections allowing guests to connect their mobile devices. Many guests enjoy the flexibility of connecting their device to the TV to stream the movies of their choice. We do offer a tiered internet bandwidth as well, with faster speeds for streaming available for as little as $6.95 --- less than the cost of the in-room movies we previously had available. Though we do understand the frustration with the changing times, we hope we've addressed the concerns to suit the majority of the travelers, both business and leisure. As always, we truly appreciate the feedback and look forward to learning more of how we can continue meeting and exceeding our guests expectations.
