“Excellent Hotel - Great food and bar”
I was completely satisfied with this hotel.
“Excellent”
Very nice service and friendly staff.
“Hotel is over-rated”
Hotel is over-rated 1) Cable TV - kept losing all channels. 2) Bathroom sink piping leaked water all over bathroom floor. 3) Sink in hallway very slow draining. 4) Beds were not comfortable 5) Cleanliness was average.
“Needed a place to stay...and had no choice”
My husband and I needed a place to stay at short notice for a business trip. This was labor day weekend, the US Open, and right after Hurricane Irene hit Long Island. Due to the busy weekend and the fact that several locals were staying in hotels because they still didn't have power, nearly every single hotel on Long Island was at capacity. And we had to choose the Freeport Inn. There's the back story.... The pictures online look great...but buyer beware. The majority of the rooms do not look this nice. We booked a "deluxe king room" so I expected our room to look like one of the photos. It didn't. It was easily one of the worst rooms I have stayed in (but the bathroom was nice). We walked into the room and it smelled of fresh paint and was stuffy. I wanted to open the window so I could ventilate the room, but the window didn't open, and I didn't feel comfortable leaving the door open. The next thing I did was to turn down the sheets. Not only did the sheets not match, but I found an aunt crawling on the sheets and a stray hair. I was upset but my husband said it's only one aunt. After I saw another two ants crawling around, I called the front desk to see if we could switch to a better room but they were all full. However, Paul at the front desk was very accommodating. In short, I did try to find another hotel (willing to eat the money I spent on this hotel) but there was no other option. I did have to take a Xanax to be able to sleep though...
“Tucked in a corner near the sea”
This hotel is down a side road where you wouldn't expect something nice to be hidden, but there it was. The Inn and Marina is exactly what the title specified, an Inn and a Marina. Though it is an older building, it was recently renovated and the rooms are big enough for the 2 people they are made for. The room I had was a Deluxe King room (which I received as a free upgrade from a Standard King) which included a pretty nice bathroom with newly tiled floors, glass sliding doors, and a pretty modern/cute sink. The shower had good warm/hot water and good pressure. No shampoo is included, so bring your own. It also had a 32" LCD TV - though it did not have cable on it, it seemed, I got about 25 or so channels. The bed had 6 (3 double stacks) pillows. It also contained a small coffee table, desk, and 3 chairs. There were a few points of questionable quality as far as the room went - the bathroom door was being held on by a thread and the toilet seat was falling off, but otherwise in pretty good shape. There isn't a lot of traffic on the road so there isn't a lot of noise at night and other guests were quiet. "The Patio" (the adjoining restaurant/bar) is quite nice with a decent sized patio and friendly servers. The regular local patrons were friendly as well. Most of the menu is seafood types (which wasn't for me) but was quite tasty and filling. Overall, I plan on returning on my next trip to Long Island.
“Not too bad....”
Rooms are a little dated and I must say I was a littel worried after reading some reviews, but once I got there and checked in I was really relieved. It wasn't that bad of a hotel. Room was clean, front desk guy was nice, and the attached patio bar was really nice. Only complaints would be that the beds were a little older so not too comfortable and the towels were tiny and thin.
“Rank Reno”
This motel was recently renovated per the description, yet it is a good example of a job done poorly. This motel, its renovation and service was done everything on the cheap. The furniture is very cheap and already starting to show wear. We had to dust the lampshades over the bed since they were covered in dust and webs. The only bright spot was the shower, which was large had a riverstone floor, glass doors. The materials and products used for everything else were the cheapest you could find. The towels felt like rags. Even the "continental breakfast" had the cheapest paper plates you could find, with the cheapest styrofoam cups. The only bright spot was the "Patio" bar and grill. Nice spot next to the marina, with a number of firepits. Our choice of this motel was due to the location, since we needed to be on the South Shore. The price seemed reasonable and the pictures looked good. The pictures must have been the only thing they had done professionally.
“Lovely Hotel Lacking Good Service”
We stayed at the Freeport Inn & Marina on Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend. The hotel is completely redone, with a modern take on 1940's style and very cute. The Patio is a great hangout spot for drinks or appetizers, though we were shocked to see Manhattan prices in Freeport with $12 cocktails. The basic room rate was a steal for a holiday weekend. The only disappointment was the service. The hotel was not nearly at capacity, and while we were checked in quickly, all visits to reception later on were with a woman with a snide attitude working reception. Calls to the reception office were never answered. The complimentary breakfast included only a plate of bagels, a toaster, cream cheese, butter, coffee, and orange juice. We weren't expecting an omelet station, but some yogurt or fresh fruit would have been nice. Without a car we were able to walk to the nautical mile and to the Freeport station to go to Jones Beach. I would recommend this hotel to those willing to put up with lacking service for a comfortable, clean room and a great location.
“Most Excellent.”
The ambience says it all. Love being by the water and the proximity to Nautical Mile is a nice little walk. Room was extremely comfy and I would highly recommend.
“Going back in time to the old motel with a Key”
I was totally satisfied with my stay, although the new bar and restaurant were not open yet, The landscaping is beautiful. Was not to happy about size of room but worked out fine very clean and will stay there again someday.
