“I AM VERY GLAD I CHOSE THIS HOTEL !!!!!!”

I can not tell you how happy I am I chose this place to spend some time in Freeport, Bahamas.... The hotel is simple, but very nice. Very clean and the staff walked the extra mile to accomodate my needs.... Very close to places to eat and also to Hair Salon and Hair Beauty Supply Stores... Very easy to go around with the Shuttle system they have here between Island Palm Resort and Island Seas Resort and Port Lucaya... We can just keep track of the shuttle schedule and go to all these places and it is all included. We can also check our email for free. I had no problems at all and would definitely recommend this hotel to everybody who is traveling on a budget, but at the same time likes a neat place.

Area recommendations
I would recommend this area because I did not go far. So I mainly stayed in this area. I can not say anything about any other area in Freeport, but this place is absolutely amazing... The beach is gorgeous.... the water is really crystal clear.... It is absolutely breathtaking !!!!! The people are friendly. What else can you ask for ??? I am very happy I came here... It was worth every moment !!!!!

“Good for the price”

The hotel was basic but had everything I needed . I wasn't in the Bahamas to spend all my time in the hotel. The staff were able to answer my questions. It was easy to get around and take the public bus to the beach or to restaurants in Port Lucaya.

“good for the price”

I booked my stay at the Island Palm Resort knowing it was only rated 2.5 stars. I came up on an exceptional deal on expedia, and only planned on using my hotel room only for sleep. For its price and my expectation, I was completely satisfied. The hotel was very close to the airport and we were able to unwind quickly from our travel. However, its far enough from the tourist spots that renting a car is advisable if you want to venture off. The hotel offers shuttles to their sister resort off the beach and Port Lucaya, but the pick up times are pretty limited. Walking distance, you'll find a liquor store. If you want to get to know the real locals, take that walk. We were introduced to Sands beer and didn't leave the liquor store until taking a free swig of Ginger Wine courtesy of one of the locals. The staff at Island Palm was laid back and in no particular rush to serve you, but that's island life - so get used it when you're in the Bahamas. There was one computer in the main lobby (not sure that it even had internet connection) and one phone. You will be asked to participate in a time share presentation at their sister resort, Island Seas. Do it. It was worth our time (tons of freebies). If you choose not to do the time share presentation, Alfred at the Island Palm was a great help. He can refer you to just about all the offerings in the Grand Bahamas.

“It is okay for a low price!”

It was my first time the Bahamas and I had other expectations. I had never thought that it would be that expensive there and I had other expectations about the beaches there. But I think it is important to traver around the island and to see also the desolte beaches and not the beaches which are crowded. They would approve my expectations more. But the booking with expedia.com was nice. There were no problems with the flight or the rooms, everything was booked and we had no circumstances with anything.

“So worth it for the price!”

Ignore most of these negative reviews. The hotel is quite nice. I would equate it to a Best Western in the states. Not glamorous, but comfortable. They even have a pool and bar! The pool is very clean. And the give you free transportation to the beach and Lucaya. The check in process can be tedious, especially if you come from the Discovery Cruise. Staying here is about a third the price of the resorts. Your basically yin Downtown Freeport. Some people describe it as 'depressed' but I thought it was fine. There is a bank across the street and also a little cafe in the shopping center katty corner that had nice breakfast and coffee. Some hotel guest did complain to us that they found lizards in their room. I did see a baby lizard at one point, but you are on a tropical island so there are little creatures everywhere. I would stay again!

Island Seas Resort. They have a really beautiful beach. Not crowded and has a bar and local cuisine.

“Island Palm is a Dump”

Stay away. It is a dump no where near a beach. Must have been cool in the 1960s.

Area recommendations
Stay away from the Bahamas entirely. It was like Hot Tub Time Machine. It must have been awesome in the 1980s, but totally sucks now. Everything is outdated and tired.
