“Disappointing”

We had heard good things about this older hotel from friends, and it looked good on the Internet, so we arrived with expectations of nice rooms, relaxation time in the outdoor spa, and excellent service. The room smelled very musty (once we figured out the door handle worked backwards and got it open), there was a dead roach in the middle of the bathroom floor, and the carpeting was sticky all over. The shower connection sprayed water onto the floor even after we tried to tighten it. The pool/spa area was locked and looked lime it had been for some time. The full breakfast looked great, but the food was not hot, the servers were rude and we finally gave up on coffee refills. When we asked about getting more coffee after waiting a 1/2 hour and completing our meal, we were scolded by the hostess. That did it. We left.

“Needs updating.”

Our room was old and kinda smelly. The small fridge made noises and was not cooling so we unpluged it. The bathroom was so small it was hard to take a shower. The room was musty and when we went to bed we both rolled towards the middle of the bed. There was too much furniture in the room and we had to push on the door to get it open since it hung on the carpet. It was quit there and the breakfast was outstanding. However, with the rate I received from Expedia, we will probably stay there again.

Area recommendations
I would recommend the area around Starbucks and the Cowboy Restaurant which was great.
Dining
We always eat at the Cowboy Restaurant when we visit Kerrville. Their steaks are outstanding.

“Still a nice place”

The Inn was the premier place to stay 40 years ago and although it is old, it has been remodeled several times. The room was pleasant and clean. The staff is very helpful and the breakfast buffet was great.

Area recommendations
Lots to see and do in Kerrville, Fredericksburg and the surrounding Hill Country.

“Great Get-A-Way”

This was our second stay at Inn of the Hills. Enjoyed our stay. A very nice place, nice rooms, not too pricey. The rooms are comfortable, with the usual amenities. Comfortable bathroom and shower. Nice location, convenient to most of downtown. Lots of fast food and local restaurants. Pizza Hut next door, Sports Club & Grill down the main road. Excellent sit down restaurants, Cracker Barrel, readily accessible. Between Kerrville and Fredricksburg, there is always something fun and interesting going on. Enjoyed the patio and the patio pool. A great place for photos, parties and fun. Tennis court is nicely located and the staff is friendly and courteous. The registration process took less than five minutes, the checking out took about two. If our travels take us back to the area, we'd be happy to stay there again.

Area recommendations
We drove up and down Hwy 16 and Hwy 27, both main roads in Kerrville, I would recommend any area. The city is clean, and inviting. We felt safe and comfortable walking around in the evening and on the weekend. The people we met were nice, friendly and helpful.
When to go
You may want to go in the fall if you enjoy the turning of the trees. The countryside and the panorama is vibrant and alive in fall colors. The rust, yellow, orange and brown of the trees sharply contrast the clear blue skies and the shimmering pools of clear waters of the Guadalupe River. We enjoyed the cool crisp air and the aroma of fire wood burning in the area. Plan ahead and visit for the Arts and Crafts market and the Peddler's Show. Lots to see and do.

“"Great time in the Texas Hill Country"”

My family and I loved staying at the Inn of the Hills in Kerrville 20 minutes away from Fredericksburg. During the day we went to Fredericksburg to eat German food and to shop and absorb all the history around Fredericksburg. When we got back to the Inn we had three types of swimming pools to choose from to go swimming. Our favorite was the rock swimming pool and we also had access to a gym. The Inn is surrounded by restaurants and stores within walking distance. If you have a large family with small children this is the way to go. Also if you love going antiquing come to the Texas Hill Country. I have a special needs daughter and she had so much fun. I had not seen her smile so much. We will definitely go there again. You won't be disappointed the staff was wonderful.

Area recommendations
Fredericksburg, Kerrville, and Boerne (the Cave without A Name
Getting around
If you are going to Fredericksburg go out the same way you came in to the Inn from Interstate 10. It is much faster to get there.
Shopping
Lots of shopping to do. I love it...
Family-friendly activities
In Fredericksburg their is a strip of street with all the shops and if you go to the visitors center in front you will see a museum. Their is a lot of wine tasting in the strip from $2 dollars to $4 dollars it all varied. The children will love the candy store's and museums. In Kerrville you have a choice of three swimming pools at the Inn. Their is a play ground for young children and a bowling center and pizza hut and D Q and many other things around the Inn. In this trip my family and I did not quarrel at all we had a blast.

“Nothing special but a good stay for the price”

Everything was as expected although I was hoping for a room that had a bit more comfort. The staff was nice when needed. The room could use some updating and this stay had a noisy AC unit.
