“good for short stay during Thanksgiving week”
we stayed for 2 nights during Thanksgiving week and the hotel was not crowded. Room was clean and shower was excellent. Beds were comfortable. lots of extra pillows. Had refrig and microwave. Hot breakfast had good selection.
“not impressed”
we were put into a room, the tv did not work, they moved us to a room without a refrigerator and had to wait for them to move one into our room, There was mildew in the bathroom, the pool was awful. The Wifi did not work at all during our stay. Overall our stay was not good, we plan on going back to Fredericksburg but will look for another place to stay.
“no hot water and nobody cared?”
Very pretty room with a comfy bed. Woke in the am, jumped in the shower-no hot water. Went to the desk, told them, the response was(at 6:30am) "sorry to hear that, are you checking out?" This was rated #1 for hospitality in this town? Guess I won't be going back to Fredricksburg!
“It Was Okay”
I had a very difficult time finding this location. My on Star was not able to find it at all. So I used my GPS-it could not find it either. Finally, I stopped at a Motel 6 and she told me that the phone number was wrong on my reservations and that it had a different name. What a mess! I drove around and went out of my way for almost 40 minutes. My On Star person tried to reach the location by phone -the number was wrong like I said before.
“Hotel from the Shining!”
Okay here goes. The whole place smells like a used sneaker. Your hotel room is either going to face the highway just where the speed limit increases so you can hear 18 wheelers all night or it might be away from the highway where you have a great view of a big creepy cemetary. We had to hit the television regularly on the top to prevent the screen from being a 1/2" line across the screen. If your a guy using the bathroom you need to hold the toilet seat up with your hand to prevent it from falling on you. Ahhh breakfast. Only four tables to sit and the eggs were cold. We ended up going to Denny's on the other side of town. Unless you want the feel of staying at a "No Tell Motel", don't stay here!
“Much better than expected!”
I felt that the Howard Johnson Motel in Fredericksburg was extremely nice and priced low compared to the other motels in town.
“Deer watching”
The mama deer and her two young ones were very entertaining almost everyday we were there. The motel was very quite and offered alot of relaxation after a busy day of shopping downtown Fredericksburg.
“Comfy stay in Fredericksburg!”
The staff was friendly and the breakfast hit the spot and there was plenty for the guests. The room was clean, cozy and the bed was extremely comfortable. Close parking and make sure to try getting a room facing the East side. Nice view of the Tx. hills. Is it not walking distance from the shops but only a short pleasant drive. We had a great stay overall and for a great price. I would stay there again.
“Great Fredrickdburg location!”
This hotel was previosly a Holiday Inn Express. Nothing as changed in service or conditions since the change to Howard Juhnson.
“Wouldn't recommend this one...”
I made the reservation 6 weeks in advance, but I was given the only remaining available room which had a non-working air conditioner. When I told the clerk, she said they have a lot of trouble with that unit, but she would look at it since the maintenance person had left for the day. We felt it was too late to go out looking for another hotel vacancy. She offered a fan and we agreed. When we returned to the room, the cover was off of the a/c unit, and it was only slightly cooler. The box fan she left was filthy. I knew the temperature would drop over night so we toughed it out. When we turned on the TV the picture was rolling continually. I called the clerk again and asked for another room. She nicely reiterated that they were booked solid. Her directions were to go over to the TV, put a hand on each side, and hit it to stop the picture from rolling. I hit the TV as instructed. It worked, but we had to repeat the process throughout our stay. I expected better accomodations from a Howard Johnson and was extremely disappointed.
