“Excellent Hotel”

We went for a family vacation and were very happy with this hotel. The rates were reasonable. it is only one block from the main street. The staff was very friendly, the room was clean and the breakfast was good. It included waffles, pigs in a blanket, sweet rolls, cereal and juice. Coffee and sodas are available all day. There is a very nice pool and hot tub so make sure you take your suit. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

“beauty and comfort right off of the main strip”

Nestled on an acre or so of hills and trees, this hotel is only a block away from the main strip in Fredericksberg. The rooms are clean and beds extremely comfortable. At the end of a hard day of shopping, you can relax in the hot tub as you enjoy the roaring fire and watch TV, or swim in the heated pool. They also provide unlimited sodas anytime and free breakfast! An annual trip to Fredericksberg Inn and Suites is now part of our family's tradition.

Area recommendations
Try Auschlander for a tasty authentic German dinner. Just behind the Auschlander, enjoy a great cappacino and listen to live Christian music at the coffee shop. Fredericksberg winery at the far end of the strip offers 5 free samples of their wine, and Chocolat, which is found adjacent, has amazing creative chocolates that you can also sample.

“okay for location.”

Pro's: location is within walking distance of Main street. Con's: the walls are thin, so if your neighbors snore or watch TV (or make any other noises) you will hear it.

“Great, inexpensive, and comfortable!”

Driving onto the hotel grounds, I was a little nervous as the rooms are fashioned to open to the outside, however, I was pleasantly suprised by the quality of the room, service, and the grounds. My 79 year old mother and I were able to walk to the main attractions in Fredericksburg and return to the comfort of the room. Complimentary soft drinks and coffee 24 hours was a very nice touch. I will return and check in again. The pool was beautiful (and heated!) and they have a lovely outdoor fireplace for friends to gather round at night. Very nice!

“Beats sleeping in the car”

It is a very utilitarian hotel. Great for deer stalkers! Corners in bathrooms were gummy filthy, and there was basically no tv or movies. Was awakened at one in the morning by ruckus upstairs and had to call the desk. It is not the Fredricksburg experience wer'e used to. thanks, w

“Will return in a heartbeat.”

Very nice facilities. Has two pools and a hot tub. Very nice grounds. Has a good continental breakfast. Walking distance to main street shops. Rooms have refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, and are quite comfortable. The breakfast is available in a small house attached to the main desk which was originally a home that served as a farmer or ranchers home away from home during his/her business in town, which is one of the attractions of Fredericksburg. We would recommend this facility to anyone.

Area recommendations
This is an old German community in the heart of the Texas hill country. It is known for it's small family businesses and multiple restaurants, many serving German dishes. There are also a number of bakeries that specialize in German pastries. There is an excellent pie shop that serves home-made pies of all descriptions. There are three or four antique shops, at least three museums, one addressing World War Two. Fredericksburg is located about 70 miles from San Antonio, and about 15 miles from President Lyndon Johnsons Texas White House, his burial place and a few mile from his birthplace in Johnson City, Texas. The Texas Hill Country is unique in that it is heavily forested with Mesquite and other trees, very hilly and scenic.
When to go
Year around. Summers are busy and weekends and holidays are especially busy. From San Antonio take I-10 west to US Highway 87 North, a distance of about 70 miles. Getting around is relatively easy, although sidewalks have different pavements. Formal attire is not recommended. Shopping is pretty much what it is about. A visitor should take in the museums and try the German food.

“Very convenient”

Hotel is within 1 block of main street. A wonderful quaint town and worth visiting. Hotel has nice outdoor pool with a gazebo where each evening they light a fire whilst you can be in the jacuzzi watching the tv. Rooms are a bit tired looking and rather dark in colour-could do with a coat of paint to brighten it up.However, they supply coffee/tea/sodas free all day which is a bonus. Breakfast is good with a hot breakfast at the weekend. Recommend a 2 night stay with a visit to the National Museum of the Pacific War

“Very nice hotel and good location.”

This hotel is walking distance to all attractions on Main St, the only downside is that it's right off a busy road that connects Fredericksburg to San Antonio so it can be very loud with constant traffic if you have a room on that side or if you're by the pool or breakfast area because the main building of the hotel is right there by the road. Other than that, the location is great, very convenient, you don't even need to use your car if you just want to do things in downtown. Room is pretty big, clean and has a refrigerator and microwave. The beds aren't very comfortable though, but nothing horrible for a weekend stay. The pool are is awesome and it also has a fireplace.

Area recommendations
Anything walking distance from Main St because that's where most of the attractions are, and plenty of restaurants, bars and stores.
When to go
Don't go in the peak of the summer because the fun thing to do in Fredericksburg is to walk around, and that's hard to do when the sun is blasting. I recommend sometime in the Spring or Fall.
Dining
Auslander is a great restaurant, great food and beer! The Fredericksburg Brewing Company also has great beer for the beer lovers. Many restaurants with live music and patio seating on Main St.
