Wellington and Lisa were amazing......they took extremely good care of us. The Ivy was clean, modern and in great location. Will be back for sure.....the only small blip was that the Internet was a little patchy but the remainder of the experience was great!
Quite a formal hotel. We stayed in one of the villas - and overall quite dark - not bright and light. Great bedrooms, plenty of room in the whole villa and good facilities. We were disappointed that the advertised deli was closed and the we had to be told twice where the swimming pool was - we had walked past it at least 10 times, but didn't recognise the dirty water feature with a fountain as a swimming pool! It wasn't like any swimming pool we had ever seen before. we were staying in October so not peak season. The Spa treatments were good.
We didn't realise that breakfast was included in our deal, so wasted money and effort going out for breakfast or cooking in our villa. Didn't eat in the restaurant - much too formal to take children to.
"Great location. Shame about the lack of a fridge"
The location is a few minutes walk from the centre of Franschhoek. You can go out of the garden gate and just cross the road and into the rear entrance of Reuban's restaurant, it's that close to the centre but so peaceful.
The ambiance is first class and furnished with antiques. The breakfasts are very good and sitting on the terrace overlooking the beautiful garden is idyllic.
Our only complaints are:
1. No rooms are supplied with fridges.
2. Our room had the dressing table in the bathroom but no power point for a hair dryer. Also the mirror over the dressing table was too high. The bedroom was large and there was plenty of room to accommodate the dressing table in the bedroom.
Why do hotel owners not actually sleep in their rooms sometime to find our the problems rather than leave this to their guests.i

We were in Franschhoek for our honeymoon and a friend had recommended La Petite Dauphine. We couldn't have been happier. The staff was friendly and helpful the room (Cottage 8) was spectacular and we had one meal at the restaurant. The manager (Stephan) was very helpful with suggestions and reservations and even got us into a couple restaurants that were "fully booked". Overall a great choice.
