“Great Location, would definitely return!”
Hotel am Jakobmarkt is a great little hotel. It is in a very quiet area of the old town and only 10 mins walk from teh station or teh centre of old town. Yes it is a block away from a red-light area but that is all self contained (like Amsterdam) and no trouble. Security at the hotel is fine (contrary to the review from a US traveller!) - the idea of having large keys is that you leave them at reception when you go out! Rooms are comfortable & clean and staff are really friendly. Good value for money. Would definitely stay again. I would also like to recommend a great little Italian restaurant called Caps (Jakobstrasse 34) which had just opened for business recently-traditional Italian food (e.g swordfish carpaccio, pasta with white truffles), unlike the usual fast food style Italian restauarants, good value , intimate (6 tables) but really welcoming & friendly. It's really worth a visit.
“Great value”
Stayed for three nights, very competative rates and free parking. The rooms looked to have been recently refurbished and were very comfortable. Noting points from other reviews - the back door to the parking area is open but we didn't see this as a serious issue and felt perfectly safe. The hotel is close to one of the town's red light districts (which is well signed) but again this caused no problem. Good breakfasts. Close to the city centre and a good base to see the city.
“Good hotel in lovely City”
Lovely hotel with a comfortable room and very friendly and efficient staff and delicious breakfasts and in a central location but some concerns -nothing at all to do with the hotel - about street noise at night !!
“Business traveller”
Good location, close to a U Bahn stop and easy to walk into centre of Nuremberg
