It was all good except we weren't advised on checking in that breakfast finished at 9 a.m. the next morning. We got a call at 8.30 the next morning to advise us of this. Consequently it was a bit of a rush to get there in time.

Unique location, friendly staff, clean rooms and all basic conveniences. However the TV was blurry and AC didn't work (replacement fans weren't ideal).

Convenient location but just average room
Hotel is really conveniently located, especially if you want to go for the heli hikes or rides the next day. Room itself is just average though. Can do with more hooks for clothes and maybe a microwave.

On arrival I was suprised to find that all accommodation is upstairs. However staff only to willing to carry our luggage up and down.

Great location and easy to check in.
The location is very nice and easy to get everywhere. The room had everything anyone would want. We took a trip up the Fox Glacier and we just walked to the office to check in.

Small town, good hotel
This hotel is in a region that has more transient population than local. The hotel was nice, with an attached restaurant. There are only 3-4 restaurants in the town all walking distance from the hotel. The hotel staff were nice and helped us with bit of a late checkout. The breakfast at the hotel is not great, but definitely good.

This is an old property which is going through progressive reno’s. Our room was spacious, well equipped with lots of shelf space for your stuff. Bathroom big and room and bathroom well-lit. Well located when you are travelling with Intercity coach.

Service was extremely slow in the restaurant even though it wasn’t busy. The reception speakers were directly under our room, the first night we called down at 1am and complained as we couldn’t sleep and the music was turned off. The 2nd night we requested it switched off early on the way to our room which it did although it was switched back on at 6.30 am and woke us up. After calling down to complain it was switched back off again though. Basically both nights sleep were disturbed due to the radio in reception plus we had it thumping away all the time we were in our room.

Old hotel, but clean and staff is very helpful
Following the cyclone storms, we were able to maintain our holiday schedule. We were a bit disappointed that the damage to access roads and trails to the glaciers was significant and restrictive, but we realized mother nature still rules. Food, gasoline and information services were readily available. Hotel staff knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions. Wifi service in rooms weak.

Should be called Heartless.
Very sadly my husband had a massive heart attack at the Fox Glacier walk. To be fair, our suitcases had a great stay, but my husband was flown to Greymouth and subsequently to Christchurch, so the people didn't stay in the hotel. I was not offered a refund, for the second night when not even our suitcases were there, I was not offered sympathy, I was not offered anything in the way of support. The hotel was advised by the local police, so they can't plead ignorance. The people not associated with the hotel were great. My husband is still in a serious condition.

Good accommodation close to Glaciers
Welcoming staff, super clean room, fully furnished. We did not have dinner, but the breakfast was yummy. Nice location for a visit to the Glaciers, we will come back when possible!

Soft bed caused problem
Very soft bed, too soft to sleep until 5am then woke up by someone knocking the door at 9:40 asking for checking out at 10am. Well, we got one hour extension and managed to leave at 10:20. First time in many years travel.

best hotel to stay in fox
the staff is very helpfull and friendly and the location is very conviniently located near the fuel pump and the office for heli hiking is also nearby and its on the state highway so we have restaurants nearby the hotel.the room were well maintained.we enjoyed our stay at heartland will recommend it to others.

The room was on the small side but clean and comfortable. As previous reviewers have stated low on shelving and space for clothes. We much prefer the Motels we've been staying in which are not only cheaper but have larger rooms. Still it is very conveniently located and was only for one night
