Upon arrival we realized that the dishwasher was full of dirty dishes and we had a 4 year old to feed. We ran the dishwasher and it flooded the entire kitchen floor. We also noticed that the washer had an old comforter that was soaking wet. We called the phone number provided (this is a condo owned by a person and the building is homes) the person answered and I explained the problems and they said "let me call the cleaning lady" and hung up. We cleaned up the floor ourselves and went out to get food. Tried calling the owner a few times and never received a reply. The cleaning lady did come while we were gone and removed the comforter from the washer and turned the dishwasher back on and flooded the kitchen floor AGAIN. We cleaned up the floor for the second time and hand washed all of the dishes. There were no trash instructions so by the 3rd day our trash was overflowing. We only had 2 towels which were old and left black lint all over our bodies. Since there were only 2 towels we had to share (since we had our 4 year old with us). We ended up leaving and checking into a hotel on the last night.
We had a wonderful stay at Candlewood. Our room overlooked the NYC skyline and the Harbor. It felt like we were staying at a home away from home. We had a full kitchen, which was helpful for a quick breakfast before we headed to the city or to heat up a late night snack upon returning.
The hotel offers a courtesy shuttle to the 'path' train, however it is no more then a ten minute walk and then appox 10-15 mins on the path to the city.
The staff were friendly, polite, and helpful with any questions we had.
We would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to save some money and enjoy some quiet while still being quite close to the hustle and bustle of the city.
This a very nice hotel, and value for money. Why pay double the price to stay in Manhattan when you can stay here and be a 5 min PATH ride to the heart of New York. Plus you have a nice view of the New York Skyline.
Staff were very friendly and the rooms are nice and clean. The cookies are great touch!
Would stay here again. Thanks
The rooms are quite big, clean and the bed is very comfy! Location is ideal if you need to have activities in NJ and NYC, as there is the ferry, PATH train, LightRail and easy access to NJTurnpike. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Only down side - having to pay for wifi and parking. While I understand many hotels charge for these, the rates were quite high.
Checked in on time was greeted at the door by warm and friendly staff. We had a bunch of bags which the staff offered to bring them up to the room for us. My only complaint was my keycards didn't work in the elevator.
