"Wonderful inn near state park and historic seaport"
Absolutely love this place! Just stunning and close to everything. If you want the fancy breakfast this isn.t for you. It.s basic but works. Small Pool and it is shaded but nice. But the Inn is first class! So much nicer than the other inns and hotels. Can.t say enough good things. And its in the Truman annex so it's very quiet. 1st rate all the way!
Arriving in the morning, we were lucky enough to find our room waiting for us. The staff was helpful & friendly. The property was clean & beautiful – a peaceful oasis. The privacy fence not only keeps out the noisy roosters, but creates a lush sanctuary in which to relax. Room #34 on the second floor, accessible by outdoor stairs to the private balcony area, was at least 25 feet tall with cathedral ceiling, two wood beams, and big windows with a king bed with an adequate mattress. There is plenty of room to maneuver around the bed, with a nightstand on each side. Three closets with full mirrors were on one wall. The dresser is a built-in with nine very large deep drawers. The flat-screen TV is opposite the bed, above the dresser, gets the minimum channels, but they did come in clearly. On the wall outside the bathroom are a series of switches that operate the room’s lighting. However, we could not figure out all of them – two seemed to do nothing. One switch might need to be pushed up to turn on, while the next one would need to be pushed down to turn on. Several have dimmer switches, but not everything dimmed. You won’t find an in-room phone or alarm clock. You need to bring your own if you want telephone service or an alarm. Because of the bright lights on the property and uncovered windows, the room is bright even at night – you may need a sleep mask. The front office has ear plugs if the rooster noises keep you awake. Bathroom was modern with a double shower.
"Very Nice 4 star hotel on private beach Key West"
We had a beautiful cottage on the private island. Cottage was swanky and beds were big and terrific. Grounds included a quiet and lovely beach and great pool as well. Which is very rare for Key West. The only other sand beach we saw was a big public beach that really required a rent a car to access. The hotel restaurant was nice but too pricey for my taste for Dinner Hour - most entrees were $30 +- Lunch was more reasonable
Key West is extremely expensive to visit. The room I rented ("Coral Cove") turned out to be an efficiency condo, with frig, sink in kitchen area, outdoor awesome gas grill, full cutlery, plates, etc . - basically it was a small apartment for less that an average Key West hotel room price. I was at a small conference, and talking to others who stayed at guesthouses and big name hotels, my room was at least as large as theirs, and larger in some cases. It was immaculately clean, and beautifully painted and appointed. There was free parking, on the street, which is a huge plus in Key West. The neighborhood is called Bahama Town, where historically the Bahamian folks lived - it still has this flavor but is cool, and authentic Key West. My condo was only three blocks from Duval, and two blocks from Whitehead (where the Hemingway house is). Key West Vacation rentals has rooms and condos scattered throughout the city, not just in this area. My only complaint is that the mattress on the bed was not comfortable. I plan to request this room specifically and return to Key Wes for a few days to hang out and enjoy the art galleries some more.
We stayed here on Thursday, December 18th. We were upgraded to a suite upon arrival, and our room was ready an hour earlier than the 3pm check in! The front desk was very helpful and friendly. The location was great! A short walk to all of the action on Duval street. We will definitely chose this hotel again on future visits to key west.
