“Will Go Back ASAP”
Our stay was too Short. Didn't get the chance to eat in the restarurant but we did go have a look. Very eleagant. Pool area was exceptional w/ bar and live music. Beach was very close and beautiful.
“Great place”
Great place! Each room has a patio/balcony! Reasonably priced, great location--on the beach!! Pool bar with weekend happy hour entertainment. Nice restaurant on property. Bike rentals and other amintities. Been here before--will be here again!!
“Unfriendly service, bugs all over walls”
We arrived on time, but from the moment we walked in, to the time we left, we were treated as an inconvenience. We were attending a wedding with three days of events and booked Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights. When we checked in we were treated brusquely. When my wife asked about low tide for shelling, she was dismissed with a wave to a hand as as "containing all the information we'd need." When I stopped at the desk one morning to ask where I could have faxing done on island I was treated as if I had asked an incredibly difficult to answer question. We had requested late check out and when my wife called the Desk Tuesday morning to verify the time, she was treated rudely. The bathroom had dead bugs on the floor and sink. Bugs ran all over the bedroom walls, baseboard, bathroom sink and even out from behind the wall hung mirror. We did not sleep well due to bites (no bedbugs seen, the bugs on the walls and surfaces were barely larger than a pin point). The only positive was the ease of access to the beach.
“Excellent Location and Ammenities”
Front desk staf could be alittle more service oriented but not a huge concern. The location and ammenities were what it was all about, and they were excellent. Large pool, great restaurant attached, excellent pool bar and staff. Quiet location right in the middle of the Island so close to everything but tucked away. Very, very satisfied with our stay, and look forward to going back.
“Nice Location”
Great location right on the beach, be aware of the bitting insects, no one warned us, we were covered in bites after just on hour by the pool. The room was very clean, if a little dated. The bathrooom very dated and in need of re decorating. All in all we booked the West Wind because of the great reviews, but was dissapointed, the welcome on arrival was non existant, and I had some technical problems with lights and TV, that I had to sort out myself. But the overiding issues was the weather was not good, with heavy cloud and rain (heavy at times )and there is nothing to do on Sanibel when the weather is not good.
“Awesome Trip”
West Wind is the best place to stay for the money in an ideal location.
“Not Impressed”
Stains on the rug, maid service spotty, no night light for beverage machine( could not see drink choices ). PS Restaurant and tike bar had a nice choice of food and drinks at the hotel.
“Comfort in Paradise”
Truly a comfortable room in a beautiful setting. Coffee in the morning on our screened in porch looking out at our palm tree and the view of the Gulf of Mexico with its waves lapping at the shore! Ibis, and pelicans flying overhead calling us to make our daily trek to Ding Darling wildlife preserve (1.5 miles away) or kayaking on Tarpon Bay (2.5 miles away) or just combing the beach for beautiful shells. Breakfast in the hotel's Normandy was fun and tasty.(the waiters were lively) Even the stroll to the meal was beautiful as we went over the coy pond bridge or took a stroll in the butterfly garden. How nice for the hotel to have a free computer room. The pool and adjacent bar were relaxing and pleasant. I would highly recommend this great and reasonably priced spot !!!
“Small spaces”
Room extremely small. Had to shut bathroom door to enter shower. Not bad if you don't mind tight spaces.
“Everything you need in Sanibel”
I first stayed at the West Wind Inn about four years ago, and returned last weekend for a short getaway. The property is very nice, with everything I need to enjoy the island. Rooms are a bit small, but nicely appointed and comfortable. Restaurant on the premises is always a plus. Great pool with bar. Beautiful beach with plenty of shells to keep you busy. Reasonable rates for a great location and plenty to do.
