“Great Stay, Great Convenience”

For what we needed, the Shipwreak over passed our expectations. For the price, this was a great hotel.

“Shipwrecked at Fort Myers Beach”

Very good location in centre of town, but not noisy. Facilities provided included hob, microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle - enough to cook simple meals, along with plates and cutlery. Hotel pool was pleasant and big enough to do short laps. Big advantage was sun was on pool area all day. Very friendly and helpful staff at reception. I was glad I stayed at Fort Myers Beach and at that hotel.

“Shipwreck Hotel”

I would recommend to someone based on the location/price. They are building a resturarunt in front of the origianal front of the hotel and it has ruined the ambience for this little hotel

“Nice room, GREAT location!”

“Tolle Lage mit karibischem Flair”

Die Zimmer sind trotz der Nähe des Hotels zur Zufahrtsbrücke nach Ft. Myers Beach und des zugehörigen Piers mit abendlichemTrubel (200 m Entfernung) erstaunlich ruhig gelegen. Die beiden kleinen Pools sorgen im Gegensatz zu anderen erlebten Erfahrungen dank ihrer palmenbeschatteten Lage mal ausnahmsweise für Abkühlung im sonst schweißtreibenden Florida (Juli). Abends kann man sich entweder ins bunte Treiben des nahen Piers mit spektakulärem Sonnenuntergang begeben oder in der Hotelanlage ganz ruhig in eine der zahlreichen gemütlichen (wenn auch schon teilweise etwas älteren) Sitzgelegenheiten am Bootssteg mit einem Drink nieder lassen und die Tageserlebnisse von z.B. Sanibel Island/Captiva Island Revue passieren lassen. Aber es gibt auch einige wenige Kritikpunkte: So gab es im Zimmer nur im Küchenbereich Steckdosen (Rasieren am Spülbecken); die Klimaanlage war infernalisch laut, musste aber aufgrund der Schwüle nachts unbedingt laufen; die Hotelrezeption ist im hoteleigenen Souvenirshop untergebracht und so nur zwischen 08.00 - 23.00 Uhr geöffnet. Die PC-Ecke mit Internetzugang (Emails pp.) fehlt gänzlich. Es wird kein Frühstück angeboten (direkt ggü.ist aber die Yucatan-Bar, die für 6 - 9 Dollar ein gutes üppiges Frühstück anbietet. Dort kann man auch gut zu Abend essen). Fazit: Die geniale Lage des Hotels und die erfrischenden Pools machen die negativen Seiten fast wett. Einzig die laute Klimaanlage ist für geräuschempfindlichen Menschen unzumutbar und ein K.O.-Kriterium.

Im Miromar Outlet Center in Ft.Myers Beach unbedingt zu Columbia. Dort gab es z.B. Outdoorjacken, die in Europa locker das 6 - 8fache kosten. Rabattcoupons für das Outlet-Center sind als Werbung am Stadtplan (den man gratis an der rezeption des Motels Shipwreck erhält) angebracht.
Family-friendly activities
Witzig sind die zahlreichen Adventure-Minigolfanlagen (18 Loch). Diese sind themenspezifisch angelegt, z.B. Piraten, Safari, Mittelalter usw.., kosten allerdings auch durchschnittlich 12 $/p.P.
Other
Für die Public Beaches unbedingt einen Sonnenschirm im Supermarkt (Publix, WalMart, Winn-Dixie pp.) kaufen (ca. 12-15 $) und im Kofferraum für spontane Strandaufenthalte lagern. Ist allemal günstiger als am Strand zu mieten, falls überhaupt vorhanden. Für Mietwagen gibt es in den Märkten auch für 6-8 $ Styroporboxen, die mit Crush-Eistüten gefüllt für unterwegs die Getränke schön kühl halten.

“sehr schöne Lage, ruhig”

Das Motel liegt sehr ruhig und idyllisch zwischen Bootsanleger und nahe gelegenem Strand. Restaurants und Geschäfte sind in unmittelbarer Umgebung
