“We didn't expect much but....”

Knowing the hotel was rated 2 out of 5 stars we didn't expect much....But a hotel right on the beach for a very affordable price...I thought we found a steal. The first front desk clerk was great. He let us store our baggage in the office because our cruise arrived at 9:00 am and we couldn't check in until 3. Our room did not have any towels so my husband had to go ask for some which were delivered. The room and the property are very run down but they had a bar with very inexpensive drinks and a great bar-tender so we had some fun there, talking with other people and playing ping pong on the broken table. Then we discovered that they had a dj playing VERY LOUD music..our room actually felt like it was shaking. We had to go to sleep early and that was impossible. It seems like the hotel was more interested in making about 15 people drinking in the bar happy than the comfort of their guests. When my husband went to the front to complain the clerk was rude and again showed that bar patrons were more important than the actual hotel guests. Although the property is on an excellent location and very inexpensive I'd suggest looking further for a different hotel.

“Do no stay here......”

" horrible hotel, bad a/c, bad stove, No tv service, ...we got at the hotel at around 10:30 pm, arrive at the room and the a/c was off, turn the a/c on, 3 hours pass and nothing the room was a oven, check everything and the stove have a short circuit, try 4 different room and they where the same as the one i was giving, in top of that we had it to pay for parking, mind you it was not a private parking or garage is on the street, I really DON'T recommend this hotel to anyone, dont waste your money get something better, the pictures on the website an on here on expedia are NOT for this hotels room, ...im really disapointed..

“building needs to be "put down"”

My best friend's bachelorette's party, we decided on this place, because the picture of the room looked so nice. It wasn't. The efficiency was gloomy, old and dirty. We downgraded to a regular room because he at least had a view. When we checked in, their was only person to help many guests and our original room wasn't even ready. Dissapointed to say the least. This older motel needs to be torn down and replaced with something nicer.

The hotel was run down and dirty staff in the bar by the pool appeared to be drunk on duty and where definatly drinking reception staff where not very freindly or helpful the shower water was always cold apart from one occassion when it was tepid for about half my shower 2 power cuts during my stay the wifi was intermitent only good point was the hotel was close to fort lauderdale beach

“Checked out after 5 minutes in room!”

After checking in, I proceeded to my room. Lock on door did not work, tiles missing in bathroom, flooring disgusting, refrigerator rusty and not clean. I checked out immediatley. Will never trust website of independantly owned hotel/motel again. Tropic Cay's website is VERY misleading! Note: there was another guest who checked out as well after seeing the accomodations and property in person.

“Don't plan on getting rest”

IF you stay on a Saturday night do not plan on getting any sleep. They have loud music and karaoke on that night. It did not stop until 4:30am. We had to get up early for a cruise at 5:00am and did not get any sleep. Hotel was very dirty and had only one outlet. We had to dry hair in the kitchen. Staff didn't even care when we said we would not be back because of the noise. Will not stay ever again. Price was very unreasonable for this hotel. Had to pay for parking as well.

“find another choice”

Desk clerk was rude when just checking in. Our non smoking room had clearly been smoked in by smell, and had 2 ashtrays in it. the door did not latch, there was paper wadded up and stuffed in it??? I didnt want to take it out for fear that it would leave me trapped inside the room, which is accessed from the outdoors. I asked the clerk to change rooms due to the smoking issue, and she acted as though I was truly an interruption to her day. In the end we were switched to another room, at a sister hotel, behind the one we were checked into. This room was clean- the smell of bleach could have knocked you out walking into it, and the door locked. Happily we only needed one nights sleep. Not worth the beachside location!

“Good location, poor service”

The attention is very poor. The A/C was very old and noisy and the remote didn't work as well as the TV. There is no internet signal in the rooms, you have to go near the front desk to be able to connect. The beds are ok.
