We had a little problem at the start which was quickly resolved. It is a family run business in every sense of the word by the time we left we felt like we had been adopted. A very warm and humerous atmosphere. The staff were extremely helpful, rooms kept very clean, air con worked well. A bit of a trek up to the room but the view on the way more than made up for it and it kept you fit! The whole family go above and beyond to make your stay a memorable experience.....they work extremely hard yet still found time to drop us off and pick us up around Forio within 10-15 min waiting time night & day at no extra cost.....Myself , my sister and my daughter all had an amazing time at Poggio Del Sole even the other guests were varied , sociable and considerate......would reccomend it to everyone who can make it up the hill. We would 100percent stay there again, we plan to in the near future.
I chose this at random via Expedia. and I had NO idea where on Ischia it was located. I just booked my trip the morning of and when I arrived hopped in a taxi and it led me to this paradise. Itàs simply beautiful here. Views of Sant Angelo, amazing food, amazing family. I felt at home here and stayed longer than I had hoped to... they even have thermal pools and a cold pool. It is one of the best places I stayed here in Italy. Ischia has become my favorite island so far in the world! I was really happy to have chosen this area especially for September. This is an amazing family and they really work so hard to please guests. HIGHLY recommend!!!
The food here was FANTASTIC!!! i had rabbit on sunday dinner and it was soooo amazing!
We stayed at the Il Gattopardo for three nights in July 2006. Getting to the hotel was an adventure - we took a train from Rome, then a taxi to the port , then a hydrofoil across to Ischia and a taxi to our resort. We found it fairly tricky navigating through all of these forms of transportation without knowing much Italian (our fault, not the locals obviously). The hotel itself is very nice and the prices are VERY reasonable for the accomodations we received. We went with the B and B option so I cannot comment on lunch and dinner. The food at breakfast was ok, but stay away from the eggs (very runny and salty). Rooms were comfortable and virtually every room had a balcomy with a nice view - we were overlooking Mount Epomeo in the rear of the hotel. The beach was actually a short walk (down a steep hill) in front of the hotel. It was free, clean, and fairly nice - though it doesn't compare atall with any of the beaches we ahve been to in the Carribean. The Pools at the hotel were very nice and clean. There was a large non-thermal pool, and three thermal pools (one clear, one light brown, the other dark brown). The thermal pools were very nice - naturally heated between 36 C and 42 C. All areas of the resort were very clean. In summary, would I stay at this hotel again - yes. Would I return to Ischia - probably not as there are much nicer beaches and accomodations in the Caribbean for way less money.

I highly recommend this place for an epicure in beauty of life and its details thus it may become an escape from the world for a pleasurable seclusion in a calm comfort room in a huge beautiful pine park which keeps fresh air even in the oppressive heat at noon. You may see a few people on the coast or near the pool on the private bay of this resort or during gourmet dinner there. This hotel has excellent cuisine and I shall notice it is quite healthy and light. I really was happily pleased by the artful work of the chief. I am very sensitive to the quality. Everything was just perfect even for such picky one as I am.
This place is out of mass market and maintains the high quality standards in every point.
I believe that it would be much more enjoyable to come there on a romantic trip to share an escape from the world with your beloved to enjoy each other company in a perfect ambience. I hope I will do one day:)
