Nice but not worth the money!

Posted 26-Jun-2015
Pros: The hotel was very clean, and the employees were very friendly.
Location: Loads of places to see. We walked everywhere, but you can rent bikes, scooters, and golf carts.
Finding our room was a challenge, and had to ask help from a maid to find it, and it took her few minutes to find it. The room itself was nice, but a little small. There are no vending machines at this hotel. I asked the front desk if they had any soda machines and they said no, but I could go down the street to get a drink. The beach area was very nice, and their pier was a nice place to sit and read, or just enjoy the ocean breeze.

Not what you expect for a Waldorf Astoria hotel

Posted 17-Jun-2015
Pros: Location - beautiful views of the beach and ocean (from some rooms) Good beds, linens and towels. Nice nespresso coffee machine in the room.
Cons: All public areas need upgrading - specially elevators and corridors which are really bad, In room bathrooms need updating, Bedroom layout bad.
Location: Lots of watersports, Blue Kayak and Eco tours run great tours. Take a day trip to Dry Tortuga,
The name Waldorf Astoria conjures up images of luxury and comfort, But sadly neither is evident here. Whilst the staff were mostly very caring and attentive - Especially Josh at reception, Dave and Hector at the pool and Lisa in the restaurant the property and services offered are in desperate need of serious reinvestment, redesign and overhaul. In brief: Pool area, Stone tile work around the pool is heavily stained in places and very unsanitary looking. It needs bleaching out and resealing. The pool filtration system is not adequate in keeping the water clean. Constant film of oil and bird poop floating around - even at 7am in the morning. Rooms: Very badly laid-out: T.V.s screwed down on a console unit so you cannot position it to face either the bed or sofa - So we resorted to sitting on the floor to watch it. AC unit noisy and situated right next to the bedhead so you are in a draught all night long - Then the room fan is directly above your head so thats not much use while in bed as it creates more wind and noise above your head. Bathrooms, No ventilation (incoming or outgoing) so always really hot, The only closet in the room was in the bathroom so clothes are always damp. Shower is like a motel, small shower head and cheaply tiled stall. The name Waldorf Astoria conjures up images of luxury and comfort, But sadly neither is evident here.

Key west vacation

Beach area had a ton of seaweed on it. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were there celebrating a birthday and they sent up a bottle of free wine - very nice touch! Drinks and food were expensive

Great location

Great Hotel. Excellent Staff. Didn't really like the noise due to the corner we were on. No Vending Machines for a late night drink so stock up before.

Nice hotel private beach

Posted 06-Jun-2015
Great hotel . Best location in Key West . Definitely would recommend it to all my friends . Little bit on the pricey side but trust me you won't regret . The restaurant needed little better menu for lunch and also need an additional kids menu . But other than that it's fine . There's a lot of dining options in town anyway .

Great location, quiet side of island, convenient

Posted 02-Jun-2015
Cons: Clear the beach of seaweed.
Stayed at the hotel at the end of May. Was very quiet and convenient. I did not use the pool so I cannot comment. Rent a bicycle and you can see the whole island. Nice beach, some seaweed. Close to everything. Nice staff.
