Great hotel right on the beach

Posted 21-Mar-2015
Pros: Location, amenities, staff
Cons: More attention to timing and execution of scheduled events
Location: Off site, there was lots of "tourist" shopping (and bars), many nice restaurants - at a range of prices. Biking, a state park, water sports
The rooms were quite nice and the entire complex was very clean. We especially liked the balcony. Our room didn't face the ocean, few did. However, the balconies were all arranged in such a way that each had that ocean view. The location was excellent - right on the corner of Duval Street, the main retail avenue and literally a few hundred feet from the southernmost point in the continental US. The hotel complex had lots of nice facilities - several pools (with associated bars), exercise room, rental bikes, etc. The staff was all very friendly. The one minor disappointment was that some of the events around the place ran on what could be called "island time." For instance, there was an ice cream social scheduled for the afternoon of our first day, but it never happened. Another day, the ping pong table in one of the shaded areas was taken down for another event, but never reassembled afterward. In all, though, these were minor issues. We had a great time!

We had a wonderful stay and everyone was so nice making sure we was taken care of. From the front desk to the bar restaurant and the room. All of the staff was nice helpful and friendly. It is a great place to stay and relax while enjoying all the things they offer plus Dvall St. we will go again. Very nice. Thank you to the great service.

Boutique hotel on the south side of Key West

Posted 17-Mar-2015
Pros: Beach close by (public), partial ocean views, clean, well maintained property, maids came by late in the day.
Cons: Would have liked a coffee maker & microwave in room. Private beach but not available at this location. Jacuzzi by the pool.
Location: beach, swimming, sunset cruises, sailing, scuba, snorkeling, fishing, dining, shops
I knew that the hotel was expensive, but I was surprised by all the extra fees (my mistake - the site does state them), including resort fees, parking, and very high taxes, so make sure you look closely at your total cost. Even though it was spring break, they did not staff all the pool bars. The resort fee covers beach chairs and towels, internet, business center, fitness center, pool access and the concierge. There was yoga on the beach, beer tasting, occasionally live music, and a few family activities. The staff were not overly friendly but professional. I've been to much more exotic locations in finer hotels that were less expensive, so I would not recommend. We did have a great time on the island and spent very little time in the room.

Very Expensive for what you get

Posted 16-Mar-2015
This hotel was very expensive yet did not have the facilities or location consistent with the price. Most of the rooms do not have a view of the ocean or the beach and our room had view of the parking lot, only, from a 2nd floor balcony!? There were also hidden costs, including a $25/day "resort fee" for some unknown service, especially where you had to pay daily fees for bike rental. All in all not a good experience and I would recommend that people go to other resort hotels that are cheaper and offer much better value.

Great 2nd stay

Posted 12-Mar-2015
Pros: No need for cabs since everything (except airport) is walking distance. So clean, too!
Cons: Wish a consistent time frame for daily room housekeeping visits could be available.
Location: I didn't realize the hotel guests had free use of chairs & umbrellas at the public South Beach nearby til our last day. La Te Da for breakfast!
This was our 2nd consecutive year at Southernmost Beach Hotel. As expected, the grounds, room, pool & activities staff were great. We used the laundry facilities there after a few hot afternoon walks. Love that we got another 3rd floor ocean view room!

awesome hotel in a very crowded town....

Posted 08-Mar-2015
Cons: Beaches suck. But, anyone that goes to Key West for beaches is ill-informed.
Location: Right on main drag.... pun intended... Duval street was as expected and close at hand. Great restaurants and lots to do.
Nothing but good experience. 2 double bed room was as i expected with coffee maker and fridge. spacious bath and porch with courtyard and ocean view as advertised. My family found it to be exactly as advertised and a real gem.

January getaway

Posted 25-Feb-2015
Pros: The staff were always friendly. Beds and pillows are so comfortable. Lovely decks off of the rooms.
Location: Great location at the end of Duval St. Quiet neighborhood and an easy walk to many restaurants and acitivites.
We stayed at the Southernmost on the Beach the last week of January. Just a wonderful vacation in every way. The hotel and grounds were beautiful and the hotel staff couldn't have been nicer. The concierge, Bryan, was very helpful. He recommended great places to eat and made reservations for activities during the day. We went to Blue Heaven for brunch and decided to come back the next evening for dinner. Fun place to eat and watch the chickens roam about. Also, check out Louie's Backyard. Great atmosphere and wait staff. Weather was generally in the low 70's during the day but the evenings got a little chilly.
