Can't wait to go back!

Posted 28-Jan-2015
Pros: Location, Cleanliness, and Staff
Cons: Not very cold minibar. I looked at the booklet on top and it indicated that the unit needs to be out of a cabinet for air circulation. Told staff.
Location: Location is perfect right next door to Post Card Inn. Lots happening every day and evening. Biking distance to lots of fun things.
Location was perfect. Renovations have been very well thought through. Very comfortable clean, and spacious rooms. Staff was always there to help, or assist with our needs. All rooms have an ocean view. Can't wait to return, and will tell all our friends about it.

LOVED IT!

Posted 28-Jan-2015
My husband and I stayed at Pelican Cove just last week. I was a little hesitant because I had read that there were some renovations going on. SOME PRETTY AWESOME RENOVATIONS!! Our room was immaculate and the view was just beautiful. The room upgrades/renovations are fantastic. Seeing the possibilities and potential that the Cove has as soon as they are done is very exciting. I can't wait to get back next year to enjoy and experience what we saw in the making. There was an occasional drill to be heard or a little hammering but it was by no means a deterrent. ALSO, the construction workers were very nice and apologetic, always moving out of your way or doing what they could to not disturb you. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept, the staff very attentive. The dockside breakfast bar was very pleasant also. It was overall a wonderful place to stay and we will be back next year. DO NOT let the renovation work deter you from staying here, it seems to be almost completed.

Pros: location, grounds
Under renovation when there-this will be a great place when its done. We had a newly renovated room and it was done very nice. Wind noise was quite loud all night though-opening sliding glass door some did not help

A work in progress

Posted 27-Jan-2015
Pros: Everything was new, fresh, and VERY clean! Housekeeping did a great job of keeping it that way. Loved the large, square balcony. Convenient location.
Cons: Water heaters-had to adjust sink water just right to get shower water hot. Finish construction projects, pave parking lot,add washer/dryers, signage.
Location: Location was great - near highway but not noisy.
Pelican Cove will be really nice when the renovations are finished. Very nice public areas - pool, beach, seating outdoors, esp. in covered area. Room was fresh, new, and very clean, but it had the tiniest mini-frig I've ever seen. A microwave would have been nice. The first day or two breakfast buffet was set up in outdoor bar area. The bar sides and top either were or looked like coral with amber glass or plexiglass over it - really neat! Then there was no breakfast! We later learned it had been moved into office because of construction. A sign telling us that would have been nice. Instead we went out and bought cereal & milk. Beach is very narrow and not very long, but well kept. Beach doesn't slope into water. It ends (I'm sure it's man made, but doesn't matter to us.), and then there's a drop off into the water. I think there's coral or rocks between the sand and water. There was a small pier with a platform at the end. Pool area was very nice. Four of us in a regular double room was a tight squeeze, but we had a lot of luggage with snorkel gear, etc. We brought in the patio table to put luggage on and under. Balcony had two chairs & a table, but was so big it could have accommodated lounge chairs. Overpriced during holidays, but received discount due to some problems with hot water (see below) and lamp plug that came apart in my hand. Manager was very nice. It will just take some time for them to get the kinks worked out and figure out how the new systems work

The view was great. The boat dock was right next door and so it would be easy to take boating excursion. The downside of this stay was the state of chaos because of the refurbishing of all the rooms and I wish that I had some warning before I booked. The staff was very pleasant and we were invited to a hospitality event by the pool that evening and given access to an adjoining properties restaurant and bar as the hotel's were unavailable. When the construction is done I would return here.

New Hotel, not quite ready for guests.

Posted 25-Jan-2015
Pros: The view from the room was great, the bed was comfortable and it was clean. Pool was nice and beach area was nice and clean.
Cons: The font desk could have made our stay much better, but the two were overwhelmed and so we felt very under informed and unvalued the entire visit.
Location: Deep Sea Fishing. Close to shopping. Enjoyed the beach.
We arrived to check in and the two ladies at the desk were scrambling. They finally found our reservations, but the room keys were not working so we couldn't get in the room. (3pm) They gave us a card for a free drink at the Postcard Inn bar "just over there" and told us they would call when we could get into the room. Noop, not "just over there" - we walked through a maze to the Postcard's checkin desk where a very nice lady there explained where we could use the cards. We waited for a call, but at 6pm went back. (We probably should have done this before, but midwest trust...). We were able to get our keys 3 hours after check in time. This place is under construction: wet concrete, no tiki bar, painting not done, phone sitting on the floor, no towels in the kitchen and the outlet the TV was plugged in to only had power when the light next to the bed was turned on - just luck we figured this one out. There was noise from construction in the morning and two early knocks on the door. Once by the cleaning lady and one by the contactor - both were under the impression the room was not occupied.:( When we left we noticed there was a continential breakfast by office - something else that was not shared with us. This will be a beautiful place when it is done, but it is not done yet and that coupled with the lack of communication and concern from the office staff made me glad we had only reserved one night.

A little piece of Paradise!

This hotel was truly a blessing for the price. The staff was excellent and the grounds even though going thru renovations are beautiful!!!! I like also you access to the sister property The Postcard Inn which has lots of amenities such as 3 bars, one a swim up, and restuarants. The also offer water sports such as kayaking free of charge. The staff goes out their way to stay enjoyable.

Nice property

Posted 19-Jan-2015
During our stay the resort was still in the middle of renovations. Rooms were very nice, property overall was very nice, unfortunately the food at the poolside bar was minimal selection, was expensive, and was not good, the continental breakfast that was included with the room was great though.
