Exceeded our expectations!

Posted 13-Apr-2015
Pelican Cove far exceeded our expectations. It has been newly renovated which was outstanding. The staff was outstanding. They were friendly each and every day couldn't do enough to help and make your stay memorable. Every recommendation they made was useful and made our stay even better. Rebecca at the pool bar was full of knowledge. Sarah and John from the beach crew were fun, kind and always full of spirit. What a great experience. I would highly recommend and will be going back again. Buffet breakfast each morning was a great way to start the day. So much was inclueded, kyack, paddle boats, snorkeling gear, bikes and much more. I loved this place!

Beautiful Location

Posted 13-Apr-2015
Pros: Great access to everything!
Cons: More shelves to unload your clothes from your bags. Screens on Sliding door and window so you can enjoy the ocean breeze.
Location: Check out the Wahoo restaurant located at mile marker 83. Great location and food.
Clean, comfortable, plenty to do to enjoy your visit.

Spring Break getaway

Posted 10-Apr-2015
Pros: Centrally located. Fantastic amenities with the hotel tiki bar and the use of snorkels, paddle boards and kayaks. Numerous fun places to eat nearby.
Cons: The mini fridge is totally inadequate. The rooms are small; the King suite for more than 3 people would be crowded. For the 3 of us it was comfy.
Location: Avoid the Tiki Bar restaurant; it was overrated and overpriced. Wahoo's and the Island Grill were FANTASTIC. The snorkeling and kayaks were terrific
We took a family vacation to Islamorada for our son's last high school spring break before he leaves to go to college. We wanted time together to relax and take in the experience of the Florida Keys. We really did not know what to expect and immediately loved the atmosphere and amenities at Pelican Cove. After a few days of site seeing and looking at other "resorts" we were very pleased with our choice and its location. While the overall room size is small, the views and the balcony furnishings were wonderful. We didn't mind the room size because we were always outside. All the resort staff were friendly and accommodating. At night it was quiet and very peaceful. People who are complaining about the lack of luxury in their reviews should think about staying in Miami instead of the Keys...

Good location, has small beach

Posted 31-Mar-2015
Pros: Location was great and private, and bartender was friendly and helpful.
Cons: Balconies are noisy. Had to overhear a lengthy scolding from a head housekeeper to her staff on floor below.
Location: Boat rental, great resort paddle boards and kayaks.
Good and quick check in, small beach but exclusive to resort - right next to a small inlet with jet ski rentals. Room was a little too small.

Great hotel, very clean and neat.

Easy check in, easy check out. Great bar and pool. You can charterboat if you'd like to go fishing or you can just kick back and relax by the pool or the beach.

Excellent beach area, quiet and relaxing.

Posted 08-Mar-2015
Pros: We liked the beach area the most and the staff were incredible.
Cons: The only thing that we didn't care for was the gravel that they used in the parking lot. It is round gravel that does not pack down.
Location: Location is perfect. Plenty to eat and do.
We had a perfect visit to Islamorada and this hotel was the center of our trip. There are a lot of tired hotels in the Keys that need updating and Pelican Cove did it right. We liked the modern approach that they took in the rooms and the outdoor area is where we spent all of our time. Breakfast on the beach under a palm tree every morning. We sat on the dock dangled our feet in the water and drank adult beverages. We didn't realize that we would have free access to kayaks and snorkeling gear, that was nice surprise. We will be back!

Nice, quiet place on the beach, newly renovated

Posted 03-Mar-2015
We were there before spring break season, and understand that it gets much more lively then -- we were after a quiet place to do nothing for a few days. It exceeded my expectations all around. Newly renovated from top to bottom. The pics in the listing don't do it justice -- there is a lot more beach area than it looks like there is. Every room has a balcony with a view and plenty of room to rest in the shade. The resort next door is available for Pelican guests to use, and has a lot more to do including a couple of outdoor restaurants, jet ski rentals, etc. We took a 1.5 hour jet ski tour of the area including some of the islands, definitely worth the time and money. Breakfast every day was simple but very adequate. We will stay there again if the rates don't go up.

The staff was friendly and very accommodating. At the newly renovated Inn, we were pleased with updated accommodations. Any concerns we may have had were addressed quickly. We found the pool and beach areas to be well attended to and very relaxing. Definitely would return.
