Quiet in the Keys

Posted 27-Feb-2015
Pros: Rooms very clean even had mattress covers to avoid any bed bug problem and floors were all tile for cleanliness Breakfast at beach front was nice
Cons: There was no hair dryer, and the shower pressure was a little low, also its hard to find better signage would be great. Its tucked away
Location: Lots to do and see nearby and about 2 hours from downtown key west
Heading to Key West this was the perfect hideaway onroute. The rooms and grounds are all renovated, overlooking ocean great sunrise pics, room was very clean and modern, great large tv, balcony roomy only con was no hair dryer and the shower pressure was a little low. I had stayed with my 3 yr old and and a 73 year old and fun was had by all. The pool was hot the beach was nice to play on the sand but we never swam in the ocean there.

Great getaway destination

Posted 18-Feb-2015
Pros: Location! Location! Location! Right on the Ocean with a nice beach. The room was very clean and the balcony very appealing.
Cons: Once the kitchen is renovated, it would be great to be able to catch a bite without having to leave the premises.
Location: Lots of water sports and activities - A variety of restaurants.
My husband and I stayed at the Pelican Cove for 2 nights. We were pleasantly surprised by the recent renovations. The room was very well appointed, spacious with contemporary furniture and very comfortable bed. The large corner balcony overlooking the beach and the ocean was a wonderful surprise. Renovations are still underway - only a cold breakfast served at the bar - quite substantial and with lots of choices. We ate breakfast on the beach on very comfortable lawn chairs. The restaurants at the sister property next door were available but once the kitchen is renovated, this will be a welcome addition. Lots of restaurants nearby. The staff was very helpful. We would recommend this hotel to our friends.

Beautiful location. Nice rooms except no bureaus.

We had a great time . The resort is beautiful. It is still being renovated so it will be better next time. Refrigerater too small, also it was in a cabinet, so I it was warm. We enjoyed the kayaks, but were disappointed paddle boards weren't ready. Great breakfast! Bar needs food options. Still a great time.

Four star soon to be a five

The pelican resort has been recently remodeled, the rooms are completed, and are very nice. The amenities aren't quit there yet, but are real close. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and there as always someone on duty. Seemed to be very secure also. I would recommend this place and sour stay there again

Fabulous ocean view

Posted 02-Feb-2015
Pros: Quiet beach and pool area. Beautiful views. The "kitchen" area with table and stools was very convenient. Room balcony was great.
Cons: Breakfast( running out of coffee 3 of 4 mornings),Towel bar hitting your knees in bathroom in front of sink, plumbing problems, curtain runner broken.
The private beach is beautiful, quiet and has many lounge chairs to enjoy. There are many amenities within walking distance such as boat rental, a few restaurants, two outdoor bars on the beach, kayaks, paddle boards, jetski, music, beach games, and more. Pelican Cove is part of The Postcard Inn "complex" and as a registered guest you can visit it all. It is very close to Theater of the Sea, easy walking distance. Being a little bit off of Hwy#1, road noise was not a problem. Pelican Cove is close to many attractions and eating/drinking establishments known for watching the gorgeous sunsets. Resort is under construction/remodeling at moment. There are plumbing problems to work out such as water temperature (Really only had one hot shower in 4 days) and there are clicking noises every time you run any water. Besides the inconveniently located towel bar at your knees/shins, there was a shelf above the faucet that you hit your head on when washing your face. The mini-fridge is enclosed in a cabinet with no ventilation and it was HOT in there. We and other guests left the door hanging open the whole time. Looked like area rug had not been vacuumed for a while. There was no dresser so clothes that could not be hung up stayed in the suitcase. Our second suitcase ended up on the couch. I like to put clothes in a dresser when I stay in a place for more than one day.

Can't wait to go back!

Posted 28-Jan-2015
Pros: Location, Cleanliness, and Staff
Cons: Not very cold minibar. I looked at the booklet on top and it indicated that the unit needs to be out of a cabinet for air circulation. Told staff.
Location: Location is perfect right next door to Post Card Inn. Lots happening every day and evening. Biking distance to lots of fun things.
Location was perfect. Renovations have been very well thought through. Very comfortable clean, and spacious rooms. Staff was always there to help, or assist with our needs. All rooms have an ocean view. Can't wait to return, and will tell all our friends about it.

LOVED IT!

Posted 28-Jan-2015
My husband and I stayed at Pelican Cove just last week. I was a little hesitant because I had read that there were some renovations going on. SOME PRETTY AWESOME RENOVATIONS!! Our room was immaculate and the view was just beautiful. The room upgrades/renovations are fantastic. Seeing the possibilities and potential that the Cove has as soon as they are done is very exciting. I can't wait to get back next year to enjoy and experience what we saw in the making. There was an occasional drill to be heard or a little hammering but it was by no means a deterrent. ALSO, the construction workers were very nice and apologetic, always moving out of your way or doing what they could to not disturb you. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept, the staff very attentive. The dockside breakfast bar was very pleasant also. It was overall a wonderful place to stay and we will be back next year. DO NOT let the renovation work deter you from staying here, it seems to be almost completed.

Pros: location, grounds
Under renovation when there-this will be a great place when its done. We had a newly renovated room and it was done very nice. Wind noise was quite loud all night though-opening sliding glass door some did not help
