the location was the best part.

Posted 27-Jun-2015
Pros: Location and gulf view.
Cons: Take care of the roaches. At breakfast at least offer cereal, milk and even waffels would be easy to provide with a waffel maker.
Location: good location. Much to do nearby.
location on the gulf was good. Room had roaches and the bedding was just o,k, Comp. breakfast left a lot to be desired. Staff was friendly. While it is my issue, it was noisy during the day. The size of the room was adaquate and the kitchenette was good.

Sehr schönes Hotel direkt am Meer

Posted 25-Jun-2015

Beautiful grounds, mediocre everything else.

We stayed in one of the town home units on the ocean side across the street from the office. These units have three good size bedrooms and a full kitchen. The view from the town homes is nothing to write home about, but it is on a canal where you can park your boat. Be mindful that boat parking is first come first serve apparently, but we always had a place to park our 20ft rented boat. There is a pool that is dedicated to the town home units. The room and building was clean, but we had some ants (three different kinds) and a two roaches on the last day of our stay. However, this is Florida and it is the keys; it's not unusual to see bugs. Service was okay. The continental breakfast is not too great. Road noise in the rooms closest to the street was a bit loud. The resort is located in the middle of Long Key and there are not many restaurants or other businesses in the area. There is a very good little cuban place down the road called Hubanos that is worth the short drive. Islamorada is about 20 minutes away and there are many choices there. But even with it's remoteness and some deficiencies, we had a great time on our vacation and would probably go back to Lime Tree Bay. It's a quaint little place, and we enjoy our week there.

Lots of room, beautiful sunsets

Posted 20-Jun-2015
We stayed for one night, 3 adults 2 small children, in the Sea Grape Suite. This room is huge with a large open living area. The master bedroom has its own bathroom with shower, and the 2nd bedrooms has no bathroom and guests must use the one across the living room by the kitchen. The Sea Grape Suite is quite comfortable and has a very large patio area with a limited view of the sand and water. This room is directly over the office and you must be able to climb stairs. There are no other rooms above the office, so we felt comfortable with the kids playing and making noise - no one on the other side of our walls. The beach is pretty, but is not the soft white sand you would find in the Gulf area, and swimming is tricky because there are rocks blocking much of the water access. The majority of the rooms have a direct water and sunset view. A friend of mine recommended this place to me, and I would go again. It is not a 5 star hotel by any means, but very comfortable for a Keys getaway. There is a free continental breakfast in the Italian restaurant next door.

Older "resort"

Posted 13-Jun-2015
I had not been to the keys before. The Lime Tree Bay Resort was described as having a beach. There is not a beach. It is on the water and has a dock. When I went into the office and complained about the lack of beach I was told there was a sunning beach when I asked where the woman pointed outside. I said that appeared to be crushed gravel and she said it was crushed coral and she said there are no sand beaches on the keys. When went to our room the threshold was broken and the door would not close all the way. We complained and a very nice man came checked it out and put us in a different and bigger room. He was kind. The other staff I spoke with were also nice. We found a beautiful sandy beach at Bahia Honda State Park about 30 miles south. Turns out there are some sandy beaches but just a few. I would suggest the staff tell anyone looking for a beach about this one. Since the first person we encountered Was unhelpful and I was disappointed it was too bad. The bed was fine not real comfy but ok. The comforter faded. There is a new restaurant next door is pretty good but spaghetti and meatballs cost $21.00. The continental breakfast was very good it was served at the restaurant fresh bagels fresh muffins juice coffee and tea. We didn't spend much time there during the day. We had paid well in advance for 5 nights so we stayed. If you want go to key west I would suggest staying closer Bahia Honda. Key West is a it 60-70 miles south of Lime Tree.

Serene place. Needs some cleaning

Posted 12-Jun-2015
Pros: setting
Cons: cleaning the parkin
Location: quite far from restaurants and attractions
I was located in second unit from the reception desk. Nice little porch. Room is small but clean and quite updated. However, the parking behind (towards the highway) was messy. Could not open the blinds. Otherwise, the Lime Tree resort has beautiful grounds. Above ground pool. A small dock for small boats. No beach, though. Our friends registered in advance for a kayak trip, but the next morning they were told they gave the kayak to someone else...
