Kids Club and Family Room

Posted 26-Feb-2015
Pros: The kids club/ Dolphin experience
Cons: Make sure each room has a trash basket and luggage rack.
Location: Key West
The kids club at the Indies was wonderful. Our children stayed there for one full day camp and one half day camp. They loved it so much they didn't want to leave. Special thanks to Zoe and Mykala who took such loving care of our children. We stayed in a family room, one king bed and a set of bunk beds. This room only had a shower(without a removable head) so it was impossible to bath our children. Also there was a desk in the room. It would have been better if there was a small table and chairs to give the family a place to gather. These rooms would be better to be called bunk rooms. The good thing about these rooms though they were big and comfortable and central to all the hotel had to offer

Nice Hotel-Great pools-Great Service

Posted 24-Feb-2015
Pros: The Service was A+
Cons: I wish they had more Dining options
Location: We stayed on the Resort but could go see the Dolphins Feeding and Playing. The marina was so close you didn't need a car to go Fishing.
We were there for a long weekend. The pools were wonderful. Loved the fact that they had an adult pool. The Staff was A+ so friendly and helpful. Opening doors and asking if you needed anything. Nice to have the Dolphins on the property to see the feeding and play time. The lagoon was perfect. The fact that the guys could just walk to the Marina was a plus for the Fishing. No car needed.

Mediocre. Not a lot to do for older kids

Posted 20-Feb-2015
Pros: Pool, outdoor areas
Cons: Service, tv, more food choices in the evening
The pool/outside area was nice and offered many different sitting options. The service at the resort was poor in general, and there wasn't the sense that they are willing to go above and beyond general expectations -- no bottles of water in the room, tv quality and reception very poor, food average. etc. Although there was a sign at the concierge desk saying some one would be there shortly, during our entire stay, no one ever was. Obviously they don't employ anyone in that position so it's up to guests to grab the minimal brochures placed there. We checked into the resort at dinnertime and were told there were no reservations available at the restaurants. No one made any effort to squeeze us in or offer suggestions other than driving to a local restaurant. Our teens were completely bored. There's really not a lot to do after pool time or at night. We inquired about a game room but were told it closes at 5 PM which doesn't make sense. The store located in the lobby, which is the only place to buy a drink or snack other than a restaurant, closes at 9, again too early. They do have a bonfire going at night, and my husband and I enjoyed that, but our kids ended up spending a lot of time in the room after dinner. Supposedly there is a teen night once a week, but I don't imagine it would do much to entertain older kids. A nice place to stay if you want to enjoy the weather and like to be outdoors. Not a good place if you're looking for true resort quality service or amenities.

Wasn't as "posh" as I would have expected for the price. But nice. Everything is super expensive.

Missed the Blizzards!

Posted 18-Feb-2015
Pros: Pretty much everything.
Cons: Would have preferred a room like the one I originally booked. The upgrade was a nice gesture that I appreciated but I would have liked to be asked.
Location: Everything you need is available at the resort. Stay put and enjoy.
Booked a trip in December to go to Hawks Cay for my birthday in February. Had no idea what the weather here in Massachusetts would be like at the time. The resort is beautiful. The weather was mostly great. Due to room problem we were upgraded to a villa. More room than I needed or wanted but it was great for the week. Upstairs balcony, downstairs patio, nice view. Food was good and well served. Tiki bar was our home away from home, when not at the fire pit by the Serenity Pool. Would go again but plan our flight plans differently.

Incredibly kid-friendly

Posted 18-Feb-2015
Pros: I loved that the kids were outside playing together.
Cons: The TV reception was poor and the food quality suffered. I am a foodie, though, so I have high expectations.
Location: We went to Key West (about 1.25 hours drive) and had a great time.
The resort is incredibly kid-friendly and family-friendly. The staff and the amenities are all geared toward showing your family a good time. UPSIDES: - kids are front and center - lots of activities - great pool plus a shallow lagoon - fire pits - beautifully maintained grounds - Indie Club for kids! DOWNSIDES: - noisy restaurants due to echoing ceiling designs - pricey food and drinks - extra charge for kayaks in lagoon - limited food options - poor WIFI quality - no HI-DEF access in rooms for TV (which winds up being good so you get out of your room and stay outside)
