The staff was very friendly, the pool area was beautiful, and the property grounds were nice. But the rooms and cottages, although very clean, were run down and in serious need of updating. Beds and plumbing were terrible. There is NO BEACH (like the pictures show), no bar, no marina, and their breakfast is poptarts and granola bars!

Would we use Coconut Cove again - yes we probably would. We think that quite a bit could be done for guests though, to encourage them to stay and not just use it for an overnight stop. It is a very attractive site with a good waterside and super pool. The rooms are OK but a little in need of uplift. The breakfast is adequate. Its Florida - no orange juice or for that matter water. Once the muffins had gone they didn't reappear. We provided our own juice and some jam to spread on the bread. The single toaster was a low quality domestic one not suitable for a hotel breakfast area.. Beware the wi-fi. If you read carefull it is only available near to reception. This is not difficult to provide at room level these days. We had to use our UK base mobile broadband. Next it says Paul's Grill and Tikki bar. To be fair we knew there was no food available, but to have a Tikki bar and not serve any drinks is ridiculous. There were occassions during our seven night stay when we would have eaten and drank in if possible, But we had to do all of this ourselves. Basically we don't think the owners really want people to enjoy what is a very attractive location.

Yes they are clean. We did have a issue with one of our machines leaving rust marks and has been replaced.

Nice and quiet. Our room was clean but small and adequate for the one night stay we had. We didn’t stay for breakfast it’s served from 9-11. Also there is a sign that states Tiki Bar and Grill but they do now have one but they not have a big tiki area outside you can make your drinks at, smoke and watch tv. The pool is clean and cool, which would have been great but it was a little windy . We stayed on a Sunday night. We loved the cats around the property being cat people, they cuddled with us by the bar and it was adorable

We checked in at 6:00 pm after traveling by motorcycle all day. Had to wait 15 min for someone to show up in the checkin area. Our room was horrible. Bathroom ceiling and vents had black mold. Ants crawling around the tub and shower. The sliding door had lost its glass seal so you couldn’t see through it. The curtain for the door was missing holders so it just dropped down. Tv remote didn’t work. Overall very disappointing stay. Expedia should not be recommending this facility.

Sorry you had to wait to check in. There is a sign in the office to call the number if I am out of the office. Per the tv remote they run the cable not the tv that is why we have signs to turn on here. As people have lost or taken the tv remotes. I will definitely look into your other issues in your room and have the issue resolved.

Beach view right from our room. Lots of cool unique touches such as pool waterfall and ping pong table. Unfortunately had a make up stain on our pillow cases and overall a bit outdated room features. The cats on the property were so sweet and friendly.

This was the room you order. As there is only 1 of this room style you rented this is the location of it as it has to be at ground level as it it the ada room. Our driveway has a horseshoe loop to make it easy for traffic, boats, and a closer access to the other building people stay in. The cancelation policy is on the website, in the email confirmation and on the signed paperwork at check in. Per you talk when you came to the office you stated nothing about the room just that you wanted to be closer to Key West. We would have tried to move you rooms if you were unhappy with it. The cats do live here at the hotel and are cared for by the hotel.

the owner obviously, doesn t spend any money on updating or repairing the property, room doesn't look like the posted picture,perhaps, the docks look like there ready to fall in the water,very unsafe, he should consider selling the property to someone who wishes to make the place wonderful again

We have done many updates to the property. As you could see during your stay we are currently updating the walkway from the office to the bathroom area. Per the dock it was damage in the last storm and is being repaired. This is a family owned and operated business and we have no interest in selling.

Small bed.
The room was clean and staff was friendly. The room needs updated. The bed was full size not queen. The fridge leaked and no one came to look at it. Be prepared to climb a lot of steps if on the third floor. Pool is nice and sunrise view is a must see.

If you are looking to stay at a high end luxury resort this is not the place for you. If you are looking to stay in a quiet, clean, family owned property that is trying to retain the historic charm and independent ownership of the keys, by all means stay here. We loved the staff, the natural state of the property, the 2 person jacuzzi in our room was well worth the extra money for the seasonal weather. Wish we had more time to relax on property and enjoy. Only thing missing was a tetherball court. Great bar and restaurant Oceanview right across the street. If you don't like cats, you are probably not a good person anyway, but also don't stay in the keys or this property. A highlight of our stay was getting to know "Stump" , "Sneaky Pete" and the other numerous super friendly cats that keep the property entertaining and pest free. Hope to return someday soon. Keep the keys free from development!

Some of our rooms are from the 50. This is also part of the old key charm so many people love about us. We are alway working on impovements and trying to update some areas as we also try to keep the old key feel here at the hotel.

I was very unhappy with the musty smell of this place. There were cats running around everywhere. Paint was peeling on the building. The staff was very unsympathetic to us.

Sorry you did not enjoy your stay. We did offer you a room change and you refused the offer. (Even though I did not smell anything.) The cats are part of the hotel they have been here for years and are taken care of by the hotel. The building you were in was just pressure wash and unfortunately some paint was chipped in the washing.

This is a great old motel/hotel that has nice grounds, clean but older establishment, excellent customer service, pool is really nice with waterfall feature. Room and bath were clean. Due to age, not everything is perfect. This isn’t the Hilton and we were happy that it wasn’t. Liking the old Fla Keys charm being a South Fla. native. The sunrise is worth the early rise out of bed!!! For a place having been thru recent hurricanes, glad to see its survival and the enjoyable old Florida Keys places are still available. They do have a number of friendly cats living on site, being a cat person, this did not change my enjoyment staying here. I will be returning and will recommend to my other South Fla. friends looking for that old Fla. Keys charm for a vaca!
