“Good value for the money.”

Room was clean and comfortable and the motel was in a good location in Marathon. It was quiet and nice. "Resort" is stretching it though, like another reviewer said. It was definitely a 60's type motel, in style and design. There was not much of a beach. We just spent the night there and headed down to Key West so we didn't need the beach or marina parts. Good value for the money.

“small but nice”

Rooms are clean and are comfortable bathroom has been remodeled as of late. It is small but clean.

“Very basic, few amenities”

The room was small but comfortable. There was a coffee maker, but no fridge or microwave. The hotel promised free wi-fi, but you have to walk down to the laundry area to access it. The location is good, located on a marina with a beautiful view of the sunset.

“Old School but a cool experience”

This has an old time motel feel. Good location in the center of the Keys. It was about an hour drive to Key Largo and to Key West. The man made beach in the marina is a beautiful place to hang out. Especially around sunset. Reasonably priced and clean. This is my favorite place that I stayed at during a road trip down to Key West.

Area recommendations

Be sure to visit Bahia Honda State Park. Small, but pretty beach. Kayak rentals too.

“Comfortable but unremarkable”

We found Blackfin to be a comfortable and convenient place to sleep for two nights of our trip in the Keys. We didn't use any of the resort or marina facilities, but it was helpful to have a place to do laundry. Our room was large, quiet and clean. We requested a rollaway bed and there was plenty of room for it, but it had an old mattress so we chose to share a queen bed instead. If you're expecting a fancy resort, this isn't it. But if you want comfort at a reasonable price, Blackfin is a good option.

“Good quality for the price.”

Would recommend a stay at this motel. Had a lot of motorcycle guests but that did not bother us since we had a motorcycle also.

Area recommendations

We wanted to visit Key West but knew the prices would be a lot higher, so we decided to stay in Marathon, FL. The motel was a short walk to the water with a gazebo and benches to sit on. Also, restaurants for breakfast and dinner were nearby. Good location.

“Bill's blast”

This facility is beyond tired. It is being allowed to disintegrate with minimal repairs. Tiles in the bath are missing or broken, the water on/off handles in the shower spurt water around them, the bedside lamp had faulty wiring and the microwave cord was too short to reach the outlet. We put it on the floor to get it to work. The next day an extension cord was available to reach and it dangled from above the refrigerator to the wall near the floor. The walls are so thin we could hear the guy in the next room snoring. The sheets had holes in them and the bed cover was Stone Age. Having said all this, the room came with refrigerator and the above mentioned microwave. It was spacious and it was clean. Further, there was a nice common use grill area and the view from their point overlooking the water was very attractive. Bottom line, it's a dump and not worth the price.

“Not bad if you just need a bed.”

Old bungalo type hotel that has been fixed up. Clean rooms but bathtub looked like original, very old. Close to a nice public beach. Didn't use pool. Had to go get iron and hair dryer from office. Not worth the weekend price we payed. There are no in between hotels on Marathon. It is either hotels like this one or resorts with resort type prices. It's fine if you are just looking for a place to stay but not really anything to do within walking distance of the hotel.

“I'll be back”

From the design of the office I guessed the buildings to date from the 60's, this is not a drawback I enjoyed the retro feel of the place. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The pool area was clean and well cared for amnd I enjoyed the sunsets from the sandspit at rear of the property . Would definately consider staying there again as the price and cleaniness were both very good.
